    Exclamation New & scared!

Hey there! New poster and I'm a little bit scared at the moment!

My flatmate woke up this morning at about 5am and v*. She told me that she cleaned herself up afterwards and had a shower straight away. About half an hour later, she v* again and had d*. She spent the whole day on the couch with typical norovirus symptoms.

I had the norovirus about a year ago and since then have suffered anxiety and have lost so much weight from my ridiculous phobia, so naturally I'm a bit freaked out at the moment.

I've cleaned the entire bathroom, door knobs, television remotes and any other area she may have touched with bleach and have been washing my hands so much and have hardly eaten anything all day. What are my chances of catching this virus and how long will it take before I know I have it?

    Help! x

    Here are the facts:

    1. The only way you can get norovirus is if you stick your hands in your mouth if the virus is on your hands
    2. The norovirus is found only in the V* and feces.
    3. It is not airborne (unless someone V* right next to you and a particle gets in your mouth)

If you keep disinfecting, wash your hands before you eat and touch your mouth you will be fine! I hope this helps!

Thank you so much! Your reply has calmed me down a little

Another question - how long will it be until she is out of the danger zone and I can stop bleaching the heck out of every surface? The last time she v* was yesterday morning at 7am (it is now 9am the following morning) and she says she feels fine now. It's Saturday, so should I keep bleaching until at least Monday?

Also, because she only v* twice and had d* once, do you think it was a mild strain?

Well, this is a hard question. Because she can be contagious from 3 days after she is sick to 2 weeks (this does not mean she will be contagious for 2 weeks). Always, a caution, wash your hands before you eat or touch your mouth.Bleach as long as you feel is necessary. As long as you wash your hands you will be fine and not get it. The only way the virus is transmitted is if you had the virus on your hand and you placed your hand in your mouth (also keep your hands away from your face). I think it may have been a mild strain. However, every person is different so it's hard to tell. It can be mild for some and severe for others. I hope this helps
