I am so fed up of not being able to sleep. Its gone 3.30 am and in 4 hours I have to leave home to get to uni. I cant sleep because Im too scared to go to sleep. Everytine I have V* it has been in the middle of the night and now i cannot get to bed. I can sleep during the day but that is not always very practical. During the day even if i cant fall asleep i will lay on my bed and just relax but i cant risk doing that during the night incase my eyes shut and i go to sleep.

I am so incredibly tired. I get about 5 hours sleep every couple of days, i dont know how i am still functioning. I dont know what to do, i have tried sleeping with the light on and tv on but even then i cant bring myself to get into bed before 3 am.

I am sorry you are having trouble sleeping, I sometimes have the same problem. Have you tried taking sleeping pills? They can be very effective. When ever I have a hard time at night, I just pop a sleeping pill, and within an hour I am fast asleep. I suggest just going to the drug store and buying over the counter sleeping pills. I hope things work out.

hi, thanks for your reply. My problem isn't actually falling asleep, its just im too scared to get into bed in case i fall asleep, if that makes sense. I think im scared of waking up in the dark, i can sleep during the daytime fine, but when im in uni all day i cant do that.

well its probably counterproductive to do this because it weakens your
immune system so try and get a sufficient amount of sleep it will be
    better for you

I am like that sometimes too, and that totally makes sense. I really think that a sleeping pill might help anyway. It will really relax you. Just take a pill, turn the TV on, and even leave the light on, and you will fall into a nice deep sleep, and you wont even wake up in the middle of the night. You wont even know you feel asleep, if that makes sense. It just makes you so drowsy and relaxed that you wont even noticed that your eyes closed and you are sleeping. Or try reading a book, or take a bath, to try and relax. I know its hard but if you could just focus on relaxing, you will feel more at ease to fall asleep. Good luck

Taking an anti- anxiety pill with help your nerves plus lrt you get some sleep. It doesn't knock you off your feet but it will help you get a solid sleep, it does for me anyway.

I've taken sleeping pills before as well, and I agree... you won't wake up in the middle of the night if you take one, it really helps you getinto a deep sleep. The only trouble I had was that I woke up feeling quite rough, I think I was still in deep sleep when my alarm went off I kind of felt a bit hungover. Still, even that's got to be better than only 5 hours every couple of days.

This may sound stupid, but you mentioned trying to fall asleep to a tv or some other form of backfround noise. What about trying to lay in bed around 10 pm and begin to read with a soft light on? I find that this can sometimes helps when I am having trouble sleeping, like today. I have had no sleep lastnight, because I napped yesterday afternoon. It has screwed up my whole cycle.
