I am 36 years old and in the last 5 years have slowly given into this phobia. It has become the focal point of my everyday life. I have seen many doctors and shrinks, but to no avail. I weigh 125 lbs. and everyone around me is very critical of me, my weight and how little I eat. It is a very dark world that I live in and some days it is very hard to keep any self-esteem. I came to this website for help and hopefully will find some. Marc

Hi Marc.. Welcome to the site! I hope you find the help you are looking for here. I know that what I get out of being here is just the comfort of knowing there are others out there like me. I hope you can get the same comfort.

I know what you mean about this phobia being an everyday focal point, I believe it is that way for most of us. Consuming every thought and affecting every decision. And I know dealing with others who are not living it, tend to be super critical of our actions. Please just know that you are not alone in this.

Yes, it is the same for me also. I weigh 125 and everyone is also worried for me. This phobia is so crippling because it consumes every aspect of your daily life. If we could just rid ourselves of the intense fear I think it would be easier to handle. No one can possibly understand what goes thru an emets mind ever second of every day. It help to have people to understand the agony of living with a phobia. I try not to stress the emet part but to stress the agony of having a phobia that takes over your life. I think to some degree everyone has a phobia or two and it is easier for them to understand the degree of the phobia and how it takes up our daily lives

The real tool that has helped me is information. I got all the information I could on anxiety disorders and emetophobia. I am still getting new information even today.

Learn as much as you can about this condition. Ask questions until you turn blue. Then ask more questions. Strive to find answers. Learn what you can do to help curb anxiety and panic attacks. Learn how to curb the obsessive thinking about getting sick. Leran why you are afraid. Tell people why you are afraid.

The answers are out there sweetheart.
