This should probably be in the answer question area, but I am here so I'll ask.

One of my best friends husband had diarrhea last night and then late
lastnigh v*** every fifteeen minutes for five hours. He has
stopped v**** and is now able to drink and is hungry, but he is running
a 103.6 fever and has had this fever all day. On top of that he
has extreme chills and body aches. She called the doctor who said
it is just a stomach virus, but not Norwalk or norovirus. Okay,
now we know she is an idiot because a stomach virus IS a norovirus.

Anyway, isn't that fever with the chills NOT typical of a stomach virus? Or is it?

One of my sons teachers had that happen to her three weeks ago and then
two days later she ended up with pnuemonia. She never had a
    cough. So weird.

The illnesses this winter are getting weirder and weirder - so much so that the doctors have no clue what the heck is going on.

Yeah, I don't think I've heard of people having the aches and chills and fever with a stomach virus. That is weird. I would think it were something else.... and poor guy - v'ing every 15 minutes for 5 hours!?????? OMG, that blows my mind and freaks me out.

    And WTF with that doctor?!?!

I agree, you may get a low-grade fever with a stomach virus, but not one of 103. That does not sound like a stomach virus, it sounds like the flu. Some people (usually children) will v* when they get the flu, or it could also be food poisioning. I know with some poisionings you can get a high fever, and have flu like symptoms. Also, what I was thinking is Meningitis. My friend had bacterial meningits, and she had a high fever, and was v* non-stop, she also had a killer headache. I hope he feels better.
That which does not kill us only makes us stronger.

Are all the viruses that cause these symptoms under the Noroviruses? It sounds like the flu to me too. Could she have both the flu and a stomach virus? UGH! She feels terrible!

My son had that on New Years Eve, he had all the symptoms that you put down Stella, he was around someone with the Norwalk Virus, he was so sick. I don't mean to be mean but thank god he is on his own! He knows about my phobia so I know he wouldn't come here sick. He said it was nasty, constantly having his head in the bucket, he said he hasn't been this sick in a long long time.

    I am a newbie, but anyway, ...

From my knowledge, not every stomach virus is classified as a noro virus. My sister has a Ph.d. in Microbiology, so I am going to ask her. The doctor is probably trustworthy in saying that it may be some other virus.

I also had food poisoning once. I was the same way....getting
sick every few minutes, for almost 6 hours. I would take a
stomach virus over food poisoning any day. I also had a fever,
and the shakes. But when I finally stopped getting sick, the
fever and chills stopped too. Maybe he has both?
