Birth Control Pill

I just got on the Seasonale birth control pill a month and two weeks ago. the day after i got on it i didn't get my period (which was a good thing)...but then about 3 days later i got it back, but lighter. I figured it was just spotting or breakthrough bleeding; however, a month and two weeks later i still have it. is this normal? and how long should i expect to keep having my period because im going to the beach in a few weeksand i'm thinking of getting off the pill.
