Ok..so..in my other posts you guys read about me going to the specialist about the painful intercourse.

**** Kinda of an adult topic...

WELL, I had a message on my answering machien alst night asking me to call this morning cause they had soem test results. i was thinking oh...if they can tell me over the phone its nothing....i was wrong...its nothing serious i guess...but i have Gardnerella...a vaginal bacteria...i showed no signs...so it came as a complete surprise.

Im still scared though..i ahve to use a vaginal gel...and I have really bad isues with putting things inside me.so im really nervous..and of coruse a side effect is nausea..but its like 1/50 chance...so im not TOOO worried.

I was wondering if any fo teh women on this site had any experience with this? You dont have to psot here..i know its a very personal topic..but please..if you can..pm me..or email me ( [email protected] ).. I coudl really use soem moral support here... my moms being great...i dont have any female friends... and my husband isnt living with me (though he knows and is trying to be as supportive as can be)...

    thanks guys
    And now I\'m glad I didn\'t know

I have never heard of that? It says that you put the gel in your vagina> and it may cause nausea? Do they gel, get that bacteria out of there. I hope you feel better.

Gardnerella is a common bacteria that can cause bacterial vaginosis. People sometimes confuse it with having a yeast infection, but yeast is a fungus and this is an actual bacteria. I am familiar with the gel but I've never had to use it myself. Is it called Metrogel or Metronidazole? I have never heard of the gel causing anyone to be nauseated, so don't be too concerned about that. It is a little weird having to do that to yourself, but you kind of get used to it too. I can say that because I used the Nuvaring for birth control for over a year. At first I was really freaked out by having to insert it every month and even made my husband do it the first time or two. But, I eventually got used to it and it was no problem. Just try to relax and be sure to use the enitre course or the bacteria will come back.

Thanks Its the Metrogel that they have prescribed..i will pick it up tonight.

I have a call into the phone nurse to see if she can answer some questions. I am wondering if this could have had any play in causing my inflamed muscle.

Bacterial vaginosis can cause painful intercourse. I'm not certain if it could have any affect on your muscle or not.

    I had to use
the metrogel a couple of months ago. I was nervous too!!
But everything was fine, and I was so glad b/c it cleared up my
problems so quickly! (bacterial vaginosis) Don't be nervous, try
to be excited that this could help you!! I'm excited for you.

I'm so glad it is something fixable as I'm sure you must be relieved as well! I don't know anything abotu that medication but it seems many here do and have been OK w/ it an dyou will be too. Just think once it's done being treated you can feel good again and not have to worry that it is something horribly wrong or about pain.

wow, I think doing that kind of stuff for the first time can be a little scarey. eventually you get used to it ( I've had multiple yeast infections and usually wear tampons so Im used to the whole inserting thing).

Don't be afraid of your body! its only your own hands, you are in full control and can take as much time as you need. the more relaxed you are, the easier it will be.

while bacterial vaginitis sounds scarey, its nothing that can't be healed. Ive heard something like 8 out of every 10 women have some sort of vaginal infection in their lifetime, so your not alone by any means.

I hope your feeling better soon!

Im so glad you know what it is now Kmarie! You just take the stuff, and then soon your back to yourself again. I understand about being nervous to take it since its insertion, but just relax and Im sure it goes in no problem. You'll get used to taking it.
