Ok, I just drank a tall glass of Coke and after I drank it I saw that it expired 1/24/05. Now can pop go bad? My boyfriend says no, just flat. But then why the expiration date?

I drank it about an hour ago, now I am have a really bad stomach ache. I started my period today, and I am having cramps, but my stomach hurts. When I get my period, my stomach never hurts, I just have cramps lowerdown, but my stomach is actually in pain.

Do you think its from the Coke, or is that totally crazy. I am a little freaked out. I don't feel nausous, just have pain. Any advice would be appreciated.

youll be fine, the expiration date just means best before, meaning it tastes better before then. I drank orange that was a full year out of date once and i was fine.

Soda doesn't go bad, it just goes flat. Like jptk said, it just tastes better before the exp. date. I actually sometimes like flat soda (lol)and I'll drink it past the exp. date and nothing happens. You'll be fine! I think that the pain is probably just nerves. Don't worry!

Hey Mitch! I too have wondered about soda, but as far as I know it should be fine if it hasn't already been opened.

Pop doesn't go bad, it never even had expirations dates on it until a few years ago, I remember the big fuss the commercials made about "now having a 'freshness' date stamped on the can" or some baloney like that. My grandparents used to buy pop in bulk and not drink it, so I would be drinking pop at their house that was probably years old when I was a kidand never made me sick!

Drinking that much Coke could irritate your stomach, Coca Cola can take paint off a car.

Yes.. I not longer drink pop but occasionally drink flavored carbonated water. I've found that sometimes the carbonation can give me a stomachache. It's not anything bad though, carbonation is gas bubbles so it's probably just gas!

I agree it won't go bad. If it does anythign to your stomach it will be gas from carbonation no matter how "fresh" it is. I printed a thing out and put it on my fridge that has all sorts of how long things are good for and it says soda will not go bad only have its taste affected and depending on packaging and whether or not it is diet is good (flavor wise since it cant' go bad) from 3-9 months AFTER best by date. So you will be fine! Hope your'e cramps ease up! I hate them!

Nope, soda doesn't go bad. That's not possible, so yeah, you don't need to worry at all.

Chipped Away's right. The expiration on soda was some kind of strange marketing scam started some years ago. It's not even necessary to have an expiration date on soda.
