    Post Drinking

    Hello!

Hope everyones doing alright today. I've had this on my mind for quite some time and finally found a moment to come on the site. I've missed it here !

I'm wondering how everyone does with drinking at parties and such. I have a real problem with it, even if I drink a cup or two I will have a panic attack later that night. It really ruins things for me, but I guess things could be worse.

What are your experiences with it?

I don't drink at all, and many emets also don't drink at all. Most who do only have one or two drinks at a time. We've discussed this here many times, and if you searched, you could probably find those threads. Doug

I drink, I like to have a glass of red wine with dinner or white wine in the evening. Not often, but usually on the weekends or with a nice steak dinner.

If I go out clubbing with some girlfriends, I will drink socially also. I don't mind doing tequila shots, or any kind of shooter when i'm out at the club with friends. I just need to stop at my "limit" which is probably 3-4 drinks.

The hangover the next day is nasty, but the important thing is to just eat well beforehand, and replenish fluids. I find I pee alot when i'm drinking so drinking alot of water helps!

I can't stress the importance of knowing your limit, if you go beyond your limit, thats when you get sick. I've probably drank 6 cocktails in one night (over the span of like 6 hours), and i'm 5'1 and 120 lbs, and haven't gotten sick. You need to drink no more than 1 per hour. Or if you have two drinks in one hour, just have water next and see how you feel before your next drink.

    Enjoy!

I used to drink a LOT, and have a pretty high tolerance for my size so I am able to drink a lot. My advice to you would be to learn your limit. I can drink a lot more than some of my friends, and people can drink more than me.

I don't usually do straight shots, and I can drink about 6 or 7 drinks on a good night, 3-4 on a night where I haven't eaten as much. If you do decide to drink, take it slowly. I've only gotten sick from drinking a few times, and I had drank WAY too much. If you start to feel uneasy, just stop and have some water. Nobody will judge you!

Drink occasionally, but I used to drink very heavily especially before kids. I still do drink but it's mainly like baileys and hot chocolate, a glass of red wine or a beer. I drink lots of water while drinking because alcohol dehydrates you which causes the hangover. I think if you want to drink socially and enjoy it don't let your emet stop you. I didn't/don't...just be weary when you are out and always watch your drink. I was drugged in a club once...it was horrible I never v*ed but was wicked ill for 2 days afterwards =(

As an emetophobic, and an avid beer drinker (weird), I've been able to strategically stay away from alcohol-induced sickness. The worst thus far, is the slight wobbliness in the morning, that usually goes away with some rehydration. I couldn't imagine not drinking beer, and i dread the fact of bringing my fear into something that I really enjoy. Drink a few, take it easy, and maybe start again. If you want to stay conscious of the alcohol you're putting into your body, I would recommend, if you're like me, to research beer that is low in ABV, and mighty tasty...they do exist, and are fantastic. A "session" beer, pilsener, or hefeweizen usually have low ABVs and don't make you feel nasty. Stay away from liquor. Hope this helps.

When I was younger, about 16, and all my friends started drinking I was very very avoidant of it cause I was sooo scared I would be sick. I'd seen so many friends throw up from it, but I think that's because we were young and new to it and no one new when to stop.
I'm 20 now and at uni and i've gotta admit I drink quite a lot on nights out. I've never ever thrown up from it on a night out but I have had the odd hangover where i'm pretty sure if I hadn't tried so desperately hard not to I would have thrown up, and one time I did throw up but not much.

But as long as I know when to stop I am perfectly fine with drinking as an emet.I drink spirits only and only do shots that i know from past experience don't make me feel sick afterwards. I rarely ever get worried on a night out that i'm gonna be sick from alcohol.

I think this is quite odd for an emet as most people here seem to be saying they don't drink a lot, I think with me it is partly cause my friends all drink and I don't really like going out to clubs (sounds anti-social i know but they're just not my thing) so I just started joining in with the drinking to enjoy myself a bit more on nights out and now I have a good time and oddly I find it a nice way to escape from my usual panicking i'm gonna throw up every night, I relax a lot more with a few drinks in me!

I'm worried this has made me sound like a bit of an alchy, just to clarify I don't drink in excess but yes, short answer is i enjoy a drink!
