Default Dog Mess (kind of off topic but kind of not!)

This morning I was walking to the bus, it was still rather dark and I managed to step in some dog mess.

I've managed to clean most of it up, and it has taken all of my willpower not to v* while doing so, because it smells so bad.

However some stubborn bits remain and I am having real trouble getting it off. Anyone any tried and tested tips? (and also how to stop myself retching while doing so!)

Everytime I smell it it makes me feel like I need to v* and therefore I keep spraying my shoe with perfume to mask the smell...its horrible

If you have Vicks vapor rub, put some of that above your upper lip right below your nostrils. That should render your nose useless for the duration of the clean up time!

As for cleaning your shoe, it depends on how long the mess has been on there. You should be able to soak it in a bucket to loosen up anything that's dried out, and possibly toothbrush it out, that's what I do. You can also let hot water run over it and rinse most of it away. Depending on the shoe, you may be able to throw them in the wash after the worst of it is off as well.

    I got sorted thanks.

On my way home from work I deliberately stepped in a few puddles. Went to clean them a few minutes ago and realised there wasnt really much left to clean! I got the last few bits out with an old Allen key and then just gave them a once over rinse with washing up liquid and plenty of hot water.

I really hate it when that happens, I`ve actually gotten indoors with the stuff on my shoes before now I realised where the horrid smell was coming from. I belive that those people who don`t clean up after their dogs are the same kind of inconsiderate types who don`t care about spreading the norovirus. I wish we could banish them all to an island in the middle of a vast ocean!

I'm totally with you there Hairy! I work as a groomer, and I can't tell you how many times I see people walking their dogs around the store, WATCH THEM TAKE A DUMP, and then ignore it, even though poop bags are right next to them. People also let their dogs pee on whatever! My rule of thumb: If pets (not service dogs, but regular pets) are allowed in the store, don't buy anything on the bottom shelf.
