Hey guys i just wanted some advise.....I went to the dentist yesterday for my 10th lot of sedation buti woke up and remembered some of the treatment being finished off.....which made me feel that maybe i could try and have treatment without sedation,i didn't panic just waited for him to finish!!!!see the dentist won't do too much work while I'm under sedation as he worries about my heartrate....apparantley it jumps and he did advise me to c my doctor ,which i did and i had an ECG and it came back fine except a little fast but this was through aniexty.....so what I'm trying to say is like yesterday i only had one tooth treated( a root canal) while the girl next to me had 5 fillings!!!!! I'm getting tired of the sedation because it knocks me for a good few days afterwards....so when i mentioned this to him yesterday he said we could still do the same procedure with me taking Valium before i arrive and when i get there but instead of sedation,to have Laughing GAS.....I asked him if this would make me feel sick and he said its no different to the possibility's of sedation....and i always take an anti-sickness tablet....But i just wanted to know if anyone here has had it and how it made them feel.....I've got till June to think about it....but my friend that took me to the dentist, decided to tell me yesterday while im in recovery that her friend had laughing gas while giving birth and she felt sick....but she thinks its something to do with the thing that goes around the nose.... as its made of rubber....and has a funny smell.....I don't know I'm starting to worry about it....and its a long way off till my next appointment.....so i just wanted some fed back if poss.....

    take care Vicky xx

I think I had that to calm me down beforeI got my wisdom teeth out. I remember waking up and not being able to stop laughing, as well as not being able to walk on my own. My mom had to basically hold me up. It didn't make me sick, only I felt really drunk.

thanks for the reply guys....i mean i don't have to have it till June but I've been having sedation for the last 18mths and of course got used to it.....but my dentist won't do alot of treatment while I'm under sedation as my heart misses a beat so he mentioned laughing gas.....and of course the friend that takes me told me her friend had it and made her feel sick.....and of course i don't want to go through that but need to have more treatment done as I'm getting tired of the sedation as it takes me a good 2-3 days to get over it and the added problem with my heart....i want to get this treatment over and done with.....ASAP!!!!!!

Is there anyone on here thats a nurse so i can ask them about the machine they rig up 2 u to monitor your blood pressure and heart rate??????

    thanks once again guys

I think I had this laughing gas when I had my wisdom teeth out ............. ohhhhh, 15 yrs ago. I dont remember it making me sick at all. All I remember it doing to me was not making give a rip what they were doing in my mouth!! LOL!! The nurse told me "Ok dear, were fixing to start taking out your teeth." I remember telling her "You can take them all." That is about all I remember. I have been an emet for 20+yrs, I know I would remember if it made me sick. I agree with 2jo2, pm madisonsmom and ask her, she is a nurse, I dont think she would mind a bit.
