for me that's what emet is all about.......feeling a little off....then start worrying about it and soon it's an anxiety attack. i think us emets are just super sensitive to our body functions, etc......any little flutter can set us off sometimes......just try to tell yourself it's all anxiety and find a distraction....chances are you will be just fine

I feel like this all the time and it seems pretty common on the forum as well. I have had a lot of medical tests done just to rule things out because I've been really sick for a long time and while my doctors have told me that anxiety is just a small contributor and that there is an underlying physical, the anxiety probably makes things 10x worse than they need to be. Anxiety is such a tricky thing and it can make people feel AWFUL. If you look up all the symptoms for having a little anxiety or having a panic attack, you'll see that a combination of some of the symptoms can make one thing they have a bug or are having a heart attack or are even dying! People's bodies react in many different ways to fear, anxiety, stress and panic at any given time. It totally sucks but we all get through it.

I feel like its only anxiety because once i finally fall asleep I am fine but as soon as I wake up I am sick again. And like I have a lump in my throat and it honestly feels like flem or whatever you feel like when you have a cold, but it's just hitting me right to make me feel super nauseated. So I am super scared to eat because I don't want to make it any worse..

I feel sick all the time, more often than all my non-emet friends combined, but I'm actually sick much less often than they are. Living with emetophobia means living in a chronic state of anxiety and anxiety causes nausea, diarrhea, headaches, and a host of other symptoms that make you feel like you're deathly ill when you're perfectly healthy. It sucks.

Hi Megan I think the nausea your feeling in your throat is anxiety. It's a common symptom many people experience on this forum - me included! It's made worse when we concentrate on it I believe.

For something natural, have you tried any ginger? Its' really good for nausea. You can take in capsule form, or tea, or even in crystallized form. I like all! And also have a non alcoholic ginger wine which is lovely.

Also, have you thought about working on your anxiety at all, perhaps with therapy or relaxtion techniques? You might find that would help your nausea too.

Hmm i've never heard of that.. I'll have to try ginger! this may sound silly but is ginger and ginger root the same thing? You can probably tell I am not a very good chef haha!

Well yes, everything will have originated from ginger root as that is the plant. It's just that you can get it in different forms and means you don't have to eat ginger root if you don't fancy that.

I definitely think this phobia and anxiety in general can make us feel sick. As someone else said, I feel sick more than my friends but am actually sick less than them. I definitely think I feel nauseated far more than most people but there's not actually anything wrong with other than anxiety. It's like how when you are nervous before an interview or something and you get butterflies in your stomach.

I bought some ginger tea recently in order to combat the nausea, but i've gotta say, I am not a fan of the taste!! It's horrid, i've not had another cup since, but I do grate a bit of ginger root into some sauces.
