    Default Emetophobic rituals/irrational behaviour

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on here has rituals and things that they do in order to keep their Emetophobia at bay?

    These are examples of mine;

I don't eat chicken and rarely eat pork through fear of picking up food poisoning.

If I cook chicken or pork for my family I will always over cook it.

When preparing raw meat I try and touch the meat as little as possible and then once I'm done I wash my hands several times in two different washing basins. I also scrub all the surfaces with disinfectant even if the raw meat hasn't touched it.

When packing bags in the supermarket I have to keep raw meat seperate from everything else even though it's packaged.

I get really anal about the way food is stored in the fridge.

I won't eat anything past or on the sell by date.

If anyone i know that has had a SV I won't go anywhere near them or their house.

I won't use glasses that have come into contact with someone who has had a SV within the last few months.

When I drink alcohol I only drink enough to make me merry.

I do think it is weird but if I didnt do this I would worry about it all day.

I only eat chicken away from home at 1 place.

If someone at my office uses the restroom, I go in behind them and spray everything down with Lysol and wash the restroom key.

In the height of sv season (now) I prefer to bring my food from home or eat canned or frozen dinners. I will not get fast food.

If I hear of the sv going around like on the cruise ships, the cheerleading competition, (these 2 have been in the news this week that's why I mentioned them) or school/facility shutdowns for cleaning, I refuse to go out to eat with friends. I will usually go and just sit there and chat while they eat. I won't even do that now. YES this is happeneing now and pissing off my friends.

I will only eat Chinese food from 1 place. And that is because I can actually see into the kitchen to see them cooking the food.

I wash my shopping cart down at the store. I wash my hands periodically ( hand sanitizer) while shopping and then again afterwords.

I spray the soles of my shoes with Lysol before getting into my car after shopping.

If something has been in the fridge more than 1 day, I refuse to eat it. 24 hours seems to be my limit for leftovers.

If I have a potato chip dip or liquid coffee creamer in the fridge it has to be used with in a week or I won't touch it.

Nothing stays in the fridge past the expiration date.

I am a recovering nail biter (I chewed them for YEARS) so I tend to touch my face and lips constantly out of that habit. I have started pulling my shirt sleeves down over my hands when I get bored so I don't catch anything off of them .. Just in case something escapes the constant sanitier and regular handwashing that I do.

ANY type of meat that I eat has to be WELL done. To the point of having burnt edges on it.

IF I drink alcohol I limit it to ONE mixed drink or 2 glasses of wine.

My raw meat from the grocery store is picked up with my hands INSIDE of a bag. I won't even touch the package.

When handeling raw meat I have on gloves. I won't touch ANY raw meat bare handed. THEN I STILL wash my hands and the counter down with Clorox cleanup spray.

That is just a few things... I could go on for days about this..
