    Default Mind over matter??

Do you believe that a person can stop herself from v*?

Im asking this cos Im taking a pretty high dose of a combination of antibiotics to treat h pylori infection. Im feeling pretty awful and I think its down to the meds. Ive only been taking them since yesterday so Im on my 3rd dose and the n* is really bad. I think Im quite good at preventing myself from v* when it comes to my gastritis flaring up although I have had some close calls, but if its caused by an antibiotic whose main side effect is n*/v*/abdominal pain/d* can anything really be done to prevent it.

Ive taken plenty of antibiotics in my life but never such a high dose (1500mg twice a day)

I need to get tested for this soon and am also worried about the combo of drugs they put you on...but just keep reminding yourself how much better your going to feel once the infection has cleared up!
I think most people who get a reaction to antibiotics would get it after the first dosage...and often times it's from taking them on an empty stomach. It IS mind over matter really, if you distract yourself and keep positive the n* should go away.
If not, stock up on mints and ginger and peppermint tea. And a lot of emets do have a stronger threshold than non-emets, so I'm sure you won't v* or anything.

I agree if you were going to get sick from this pill it would have happened the first time you took it. I always remind myself of that when I take a antibotic, because your body does get more use to it after 2 pills. I def felt nausea with the last antibotics I took only because I had a empty stomach but def no v***..

I think you would have gotton sick by now from the pills if it was going to happen. I had a reaction to penecillan the first time i had it, it was rather severe and i believe it probably caused my emet. That happened within the hour of taking it. Turns out i am severely allergic to it, so allergic i cant even come into any contact with it, ie.giving it to children. Any antiobiotics can upset your tummy, but i reslly do think you would have been unwell by now, probably after the first lot you took. X

I don't think you will v* at this stage, if it was going to happen it probably would have happened on the first day. Can you take anything to settle the n* feeling while you are on the antibiotics?

I have got anti-emetics from the dr and some otc meds which I take on a regular basis including phenergan. Ive been taking these regularly for past 3 years since I was first taken ill with gastritis. Sometimes they work and other times the nausea hangs around despite having taken them.

I have felt n* from taking antibiotics before but I have never v* from it. Unfortunately, n* seems to be a common side effect with various antibiotics, but it would be rare enough to v* from it. I'd say alot of the people who do v* from meds, are the type of people who v* regularly when feeling n*, almost like letting it happen in order to relieve n*.
