    Question Norovirus

I've just read an article in the paper that says this ghastly virus is now becoming resistant to hand washing and even anti bacterial hand gels. As a consequence it is spreading even more rapidly and scientists are trying to find a vacine instead. The only thing that keeps me relatively sane when colleagues/friends/family have got v & d is telling myself that if I keep washing my hands/using the gel I won't be at risk..... So what do I do now?

All washing your hands does is wash the virus down the sink not kill it. Can't see how the virus could become resistant to that.
A major function of sadness is to help people become more aware of what they value and hence conserve it

it is resistant to anti bac hand gels, we already knew that. maybe they meant resistant to GOOD handwashing...20 seconds. i see people pump soap, water, rub for 5 seconds..that is not effective

Can you post a link to the article? So many times, I read stuff that really isn't from a reputable source, especially the local news!

I just hate when you have information that says one thing and something else that says something COMPLETLY different!!! What site or information do you believe???

Anti-bac gel won't do jack as noro isn't a bacteria. Get yourself an anti-viral hand spray and you might feel a bit calmer. The handwashing thing is rubbish IMHO, don't worry, good hand hygiene will dislodge any particles on your hands and wash them down the sink

As others said the soap does not kill the virus it just aids in rinsing it off your hands, so I don't understand what kind of point the article was trying to make. I'm not a fan of most hand sanitizers anyway because they promote laziness when it comes to hand washing. People think their hands can be filthy but a dab of hand sanitizer will make everything better. Proper hand washing is the best and will keep you (and others) healthy.

I`d love to know where I can get anti-viral hand gel, as I`ve not seen it in the shops.

I bought some from the internet. Search virusafe. I got a handgel and a surface spray. I use the handgel when I'm out and spray surfaces with the other spray if the norovirus is about.
