    Default anti-depressants/anti-anxiety meds

I have been suffering with emet for 19 years. It has gone through stages where it has been very severe and stages where it has been tolerable and I could live my life normally. Recently, it has been unbearable. I am having difficulty functioning in my daily life without being terrified and feeling panicked.

I went back to my therapist, who I hadn't seen in a year, and she suggested some type of anti-depressant/anti-anxiety combo. I go back on March 5th to discuss specific medications. I have never been on medication for anything like this before, so I am a little scared. I also want relief, so I am just praying that whatever they give me will work, so I won't have to live my life in fear anymore.

I am curious to hear anyone else's experiences with these types of meds. Did they help you? What were the side effects? Any other helpful info/advice would be lovely as well.

Thanks in advance for the help!

You and I are in the same boat. I have had my issues for as long as I can remember and most of the time, I am livable. But these last few weeks have been awful to me!!!

About two to three years ago, I got the sv*. It was awful and it kicked my fears/issues into hyperdrive. So, they put me on Lexapro. They started me off at 10 mg, but that was too much for my stomach. So, I cut it in half and took it with crackers. I built my way up to 30 mgs and loved it. These last few years have been great.

Well, I had to come off of it since my husband and I are on the baby making path...but I can now tell that I have nothing in my system any more. So, I am actually going back to my therapist and we are working on CBT and I will be going back onto something soon. Cause this is just crazy way of living!!!

    Good luck!

I take Zoloft daily and have a rx for Xanax to help me sleep. I had a bit of nausea at the beginning but the side effects were with it. The meds really help me.
