    Default Daily bathroom fear...

Does this happen to anyone else?

EVERY time I have to go #2 I pretty much have a panic attack (or just have a full blown one). I get scared it will come out as diarrhea and will be the first symptom of a stomach bug. It's gotten to the point where I can't go unless I'm doing something like reading or playing a game on my phone to distract myself from the fear.

Maybe this is just me, but I view diarrhea as more positive than negative...I look at it as a "easier" way for my body to clean itself out of the germs that could make me sick enough to v* than. Not that I WANT to have diarrhea, but if it was a choice between the two, which would you rather deal with???? I guess this is how I am working towards dealing with my fears, trying to find ways to deal with it if I ever catch a bug.

Yes sometimes this happens to me as well... mainly if I am having cramps... I have to convince myself that I just have to go to the bathroom and that I will be alright... I am always okay afterwards...

Yeah, I used to have daily diarrhea but it has gotten better since taking probiotics. My problem is that every time I get a stomach virus or food poisoning it always begins with stomach upset and diarrhea and then the vomiting starts. I've never vomited first... I always have a warning it's coming.

Yeah I'm a control freak over my poop. If anything about it is odd I get pretty freaked out lol.

Apparently I used to be like this when I was really young (before i can properly remember) I've been wondering recently if my emet started with this or if it was the first sign of it.

I was really bad when I was little too Kam...up until about 6 or so I would hold it in for days. I also wonder if this and the emet are related.

Ohh you have no idea how glad I am you said this! I definitely have daily bathroom fear, though it's not really because i'm scared it'll be the first sign of a sv. I just really hate it. I'm generally just over paranoid about my health and I know your bowel movements can be very indicative of your health and I just can't help but worry about how it will come out! Irregularity freaks me out and I definitely have irregular bowel movements so become quite the obsessive.

When I was little I had major major issues with #2s and going to the toilet. I even had issues with #1s in public toilets until I got over that around the age of 8 or 9 at least. The toilet issues began when I was about 3 at nursery - I hated sharing toilets and going to the toilet in public. I think it's something that's just part of me. I would go for days/weeks at a time without going to the toilet and would get so many problems as a result. I think I drove my mother mad with my toilet issues. I even think it's linked to my emet and gross-out mechanism because I freak out if I have to look at #2s. I can't stand human waste. I know nurses who deal with it daily but I'm afraid I'd just run.

Thankfully these days I can literally pee anywhere without any fuss, but I'm still a bit funny with #2s. It's a case of grin and bear it. I learnt the hard way over the years that it's better to go as soon as you need to. That way there is no pain, no discomfort and no constipation as a result. I've also gone to uni, worked abroad and worked and lived in many places so have learnt to deal. Through this I've learnt to be able to go #2 pretty much anywhere - even at work which I hate because my new offices have cubicle style toilets and I have to make sure the place is empty if I need to go (I try to go before I leave the house in the morning). Bloody nightmare! Especially today when my stomach was all IBS-y (lots of stress atm) so I had a few tactical toilet trips. But the feeling of relief outweighs any awkwardness or embarrassment - so I keep telling myself. Once again it's a control thing though - I won't total control over everything that my body does.

I only really get d* if I'm anxious or ill but I too see d* as a good thing. That's how my stomach clears things out best! It's just, well, a pain in the ass when it happens, literally.

To be honest I think most people have at least a minor issue with #2s. I've got a few friends who have said they like to go when no one else is around/they avoid it at work, public toilets etc. When I'm struggling I think of one of my best friends who has chron's disease. He literally has to go many times a day, and it can be very bad and painful, but it's never stopped him doing a thing. He's the most well travelled, sociable party people I know!

When I was a child I used to have this exact same fear! Always worried that I would have diarrhoea and it would therefore lead into v*. It used to drive my parents mad, mainly with the worry for my health more than anything I believe. As a result of this I now have IBS so have many issues with the whole #2s, mainly constipation, but I will get times of d* as well. As many people have said on this thread I associate d* as being the better option to v* and I have sort of convinced myself that if it happens from that end then it is less likely to happen from the other. The IBS causes nausea too, so sometimes when I am having a bout of d* it can be a bit scary, but I am rather intune with my body now that I know all the feelings.

its funny that im afraid of V* and not D*, because the latter is probably more painful a lot of the time.
