-May be graphic to some!
So, at work today I was sitting in the dining room where all 60 of our residents sit & eat their lunch and we feed some. I was sitting feeding a resident and on the other side of the table was another resident who has down syndrome. She was having a terrible coughing fit after finishing her lunch but she seemed okay. Just as I looked over at her when she started coughing again all of her lunch just came up and out of her mouth. I never felt that overwhelming fear twinge in my stomach, I didn't want to run away, I just sat there like did that really just happen? I asked her if she was okay which she started laughing and said yes. I realize it wasn't digested food or anything but it was the same act and seeing it used to really bother me but I didn't really feel anything. I took her back to her room and changed her clothes and she was fine and so was I. Maybe things are starting to look up in the aspect of this fear, I can only hope!
