Thumbs down People Posting About *It*

So I'm on Twitter right now and my sister in law is tweeting about being ill and all the details that don't need to be repeated. Although I'm fully aware that I'm not with or near her, it's still plane gross and gives me a little panic.

I don't understand why people share that stuff on Facebook/Twitter. I tweet about feeling bad but not about having d* or v*ing... maybe that's hypocritical, to post about feeling ill but not about being ill. *shrugs*

I think that to non-phobics, it's not much different than tweeting about how stuffed up their nose is or how nasty they feel because of a cold or flu... I know it is not pleasant and it can be unsettling to us to read, but the Internet in general is a culture of TMI, and there are other kinds of phobics who would be freaked out by someone posting about a plane crash or a common cold or their pet cat. It's all relative.

I'm sorry you had to read it though. If my friends posted on FB about stomach viruses and v*, I too would be upset.

Hey, my theory is always that people want sympathy, and that's why they tweet or facebook these things.
