I was just curious because it seems like a lot of us suffer from IBS as well. I know my IBS flares up when my emet is really bad and I was just wondering if maybe there was a connection?

I don't have it so I can't help you there...however, sometimes when I'm really nervous, i will get soft stools. Maybe they have something to do with nerves?

I have had IBS and emet for over 20 yrs...so I absolutely think they go hand in hand....b/c anytime you are nervous or anxious about something...you are going to feel it in your gut....and in your mind....I know when I am flaring up with IBS....I am always nauseas too.....I have started taking ginger root pills to help with my nausea....I hope they work.....Kat

I have had IBS for about 10yrs now. For about 8 of those yrs I was IBS-D, now I am IBS-C.My body seems to alternate between the two. In all the research I have done on IBS, stress can make it worse.

I don't find much of a connection between the two.

I have IBS-D and my emet emotions do not cause an IBS attack. However, when I am having bad IBS symptoms I can get nausea and that triggers my emet.

By the way, there can be food triggers to IBS but it is very stress related. I get most of my IBS symptoms from daily stress.

I've only had IBS for about a year. I don't really get diarreah, just sometimes in the mornings (usually when I've eaten badly the day before.) I wake up with my stomach feeling weird and have to go to the toilet a few times. Like I said its not diarreah, but it's not the nicest thing either! I also lose my apetite in the mornings and get it back by afternoon. Its a relief to know that its IBS and nothing else!

I have had IBS for about 2 years now, but it is very well controlled with medication. I rarely have flare ups, thank goodness!

I have a theory but I'm BY NO MEANS a dr. or in the medical feild. I also have sufferd from anorexia on and off for years and wonder if all the food I DO allow myself to eat now has made my body a little haywire.

I also have acid reflux disease-no fun for an emet. and lactose intolerance. These things only started about 5 years ago ( after both of my kids were born) and have beenemet. for at least 25 years(worsened since I've had my kids).Like the lactose for example, I ate a pint of Ben & Jerrys mint cookie ice cream everyday for the last two months of pregnancy, so I actually think my body just could'nt handle all of the milk fat and pretty much started me off on this intolerance problem.

I don't have IBS, I was diagnosed with it last year but it was a wrong diagnosis... and the medication he gave me for it made what I really have worse.

I have acid reflux disease pretty badly, ulcers, ovarian cysts, and gastroparesis, so lots of other tummy troubles.

I have anxiety induced ibs. I have just started new meds, take venalfaxine as an anti anxiety/antidepressent and colofac which is an antispasmodic to take when my tummy goes crazy.

I did some research on ibs and it is actually a nerve disfunction in most cases. The anxiety i have causes the nerves between my stomac/gut etc to be outta sync with my head lol. I am constantly switching between ibs-c and ibs-d. Its a pain in the ass (lol) because i cant predict it!
