Hey All,

I called in work today. Just felt exhausted. Needed a break from that place. Too much going on there. So here I am at home trying to have a nice day off. I want to visit some friends and I keep thinking I am going to be far from home and get sick. Hopefully I will snap out of it. You know how it goes. I was exposed to a possible SV yesterday. I have like 48 hrs till I will feel safe agian. I cant believe that *ss came to work yesterday! I thought I was going to clobber him over the head with my chair! QUESTION, does the forum seem less busy to anyone else lately? I guess that would be a good thing. Hopefully less people are coming in contact with sv. Or better yet, people are getting better and not worrying as much. Just an observation. Hows everyone doing today? Anybody out there?

Hi! Good for you! You took a mental health day!

Don't let this keep you from going out and visiting your friends and doing whatever else you would like to do today. If you let it take that much control over you then giving yourself a day off would really be going to waste by letting this damn emet mess your day up. Go out, enjoy yourself and be happy that you are not stuck at work with idiots who have no common sense.

Try to enjoy your day off and get some rest so that you will feel refreshed when you return to work. I'm not sure about the forum being less busy. I come here nearly every day, but don't always post anything. I haven't heard of any sv in my area, so that is a good thing.

I'm a little frustrated with work today, too. It has nothing to do with emet though. We have a new employee starting next week that I have to train. In my work place, younger people are a lot less respected than older folks. It seems like they don't like anyone under 35 and I am 25. So this new lady is about 50 and I think my boss is going to let her do a lot more stuff than me. I'm not real happy about it, but I'm trying to have a positive attitude and not let it get me down. My husband is also going to be in New Hampshire next week on business and I don't do well when he is away. But, on the bright side, we go on vacation in 19 days, so that is what I'm looking forward to!

    Thanks Shiva and Jess!

I am trying hard to stay calm. I go through times where i feel great, then times when I feel like "uh oh, better lie down" I dont know whats going on but I am trying.

Jess, I know what you mean about work. My work is terrible. Everyone knows about my emet. And it just sucks. I feel like an outcast there. My boss hates me for no apparent reason. I dont get it. But hang in there. I have two weeks left at work, then I have 2 mo's off before med school. Med school? I know, pretty crazy for an emet. I want to be a physciatrist though. I guess Ill have to tough it out through pediatrics and family medicine rotations! Can you imagine. I am so scared of that, but I gotta get through it. Thanks for listening! I hope things get better for you at work.

Well, mak79007, I am a nurse which is very strange for an emet, too! Don't get discouraged about medical school. I admire you for wanting to go! I thought nursing school would help me to overcome my phobia, but it didn't. I made it though, without ever having to actually see someone *v*! I had a good friend who had an eye phobia, so she took care of my *v* patients and I took care of anyone who had pink eye, glass eye, etc! It is good that you have 2 months off. I wish I did. I love my job, but I hate all of the politics involved. I'm hoping to get pregnant soon and I don't plan to work after I have a baby, so I'm just trying to deal with it until that time arrives!

Well, I think you needed a day off too. Enjoy your day, and I think that you should be out of the woods by now, so try not to worry about getting anything, just focus on relaxing.

I am a nurse too. I see v* a lot. UGH! Not contagious though. Only during our outbreak season in the winter.

I really want to go out and enjoy our nice weather (I have to work all weekend) and take my kids outside to get some fresh air. I too dont wanna travel too far. My emet has gotten bad over the past year. I am a new one...I am trying to get some help though.

It sucks REAL BAD to fear something your cant control!

    I know Madison Mom,

Do you think Ill be okay? I keep waiting for it to happen. Two people at my work (boyfriend and girlfriend) had it. This guy who drinks alot called work the morining after these two people had it. He came in late, said he v* twice in the am. He did drink the night before, but he is an alcohalic, not someone to get sick after drinking a fifth of vodka, you know what I mean? He said "I never V* from drinking, I dont know why I did" to me this sounds more like a sv. But another funny thing is he had a bowl of chili like 3hrs after he allegedly V* and seemed to feel fine and had an apetite. I dont get that. If you had a sv, would you be able to eat like that soon after? Chilli? What do you think. HELP? I feel like in 48hrs from yesterday, I am going to get it. I cant even leave my house.

I dont really think you have anything to worry about unless you were around them when they were sick. I know being emet you wash your hands and take all the proper precautions.

If I had a stomach virus I would v* at just the thought of chili!

Just because he v* doesnt mean he has a stomach virus. He's an alcoholic and I am sure that if he drinks enough he will v*. When I get real anxious just hearing about someone being sick...I think about it. What are the probabilities of ME really getting it. Really. The only time I have caught a sv is when I have been in close contact with someone actively 'sick'...like my kids. And even the last time we had one go through our house...I did not v*.

I personally think you'll be fine. Edited by: madisonsmom

I think you will be fine too. If he ate that chili, I doubt it was a sv. Maybe he didn't even v* - maybe he just wanted to sleep in!
