    Default caffeine overdose?

generally, i'm a heavy coffee drinker. i'm one of those people who really needs it to wake up, and i'll even drink it randomly throughout the day. lately, like yesterday evening i would say? i started to feel ill. not really to my stomach so much, just didn't really have much of an appetite and a really bad headache. it continued on today, no headache but body aching, not much of an appetite, i still managed to eat though (pretty crappy food i might add) and now i just feel gross. i know this isn't an sv*, this isn't a panic post, i just want to know if this could be some sort of caffeine overdose? it's making me nervous..

I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well! Just to let you know I am not a doctor, but am giving you this information based on what I have researched and based on my own knowledge of this topic.

    Here is what I found:

    Symptoms of caffeine overdose:
    Symptoms in adults may include:
    •Breathing trouble
    •Confusion
    •Convulsions
    •Diarrhea
    •Dizziness
    •Fever
    •Hallucinations
    •In and out of consciousness
    •Increased thirst
    •Irregular heartbeat
    •Muscle twitching
    •Rapid heartbeat
    •Sleeping trouble
    •Urination - increased
    •Vomiting

If you are still feeling any of these symptoms I would call The National Poison Control Center (1-800-222-1222) (for the U.S.).
These are the side effects I read for caffeine intake:
    Dizziness; irritability; nausea; nervousness.

To me, based on what you have written, it sounds like it could be from too much caffeine but the headache and loss of appetite could be caused by other factors or issues too. If your symptoms haven't progressed to something else, but are still present, I would keep monitoring how you are feeling and if you continue to feel these symptoms (or especially if you are feeling worse) then I would call a doctor, 911, or go to the emergency room. I hope you are feeling better!

If I have too much caffeine, I almost always get that weird diarrhoea feeling in my stomach, is it kind of like that? It could be that you have a bit much caffeine in your system if you're feeling gross. If you had less caffeine than usual, maybe your body was panicking a little because it wasn't getting "enough"? t hope you're feeling better, hun!

I can't touch coffee because about an hour after I drink one cup, I start geeling weird - dizzy, panicky, nauseous, like I have to run to the bathroom (diarrhea) - and more often than not it triggers a panic attack. My body reacts like I put a drug in it when I drink coffee.

Caffeine is technically a drug, I think, a stimulant. Just not overly harmful in moderate doses. You can overdose, but I think it takes a LOT of it. Some people are just quite sensitive to it.

You're right, it is a drug, but I meant my body reacts like I've taken an actual medication because that's exactly how my body reacts to it - like I'm medicated. I hate that feeling!

I feel yucky when I drink too much caffeine-- especially coffee. Also, I just got off of Luvox, and when I was on it, I could hardly drink ANY caffeine. That medication does something to your body to where it can't metabolize caffeine properly, and it's very easy to get too much. Hope you're feeling better!
