Default Haven't been on in months

But now I work in a day care and had two young children vomit the past two days. Both are very sweet and wanted hugs because they felt so yucky. I felt so bad so I held them and rubbed their backs. Well great now they're both sick with vomiting, one did yesterday and one today.

I feel like I should leave picked a different job but I just love kids so much. This weekend could be torturous.

You're a saint. I can't handle other people's kids, let alone those that are sick. I hope that if my babies are ever unwell away from me that they're with someone as sweet as you. Wash wash wash your hands, don't touch your face and you're going to be ok. Keep up posted.

Awwww well thanks that helps. It's so sad when they don't feel well. They don't know what's going on! They are both only 3.

I ate dinner just fine. We'll see. I'm alone all weekend.. Yikes!

My little girl was really sick this past winter, as was I... my Mom handled it like a champ. Taking care of us both and cleaning up a lot of mess... she never got sick. And I know what you mean about them not knowing what's going on, the fear in her eyes tore me apart. Being alone all weekend sucks... my anxiety always sky rockets when I know I'm going to be alone.

I am a teacher in a nursery school. About two weeks ago, a little boy (two years old) v* at school (twice). I felt so bad for him, and I freaked out that I might get sick from him. I was so nervous for 48 hours, but I was fine, and never caught anything. Enjoy your weekend

Yikes I ate a little lunch and feel BAD. A friend called and we were talking and I was so nauseous I felt irritated and had to get off the phone. Weird.

Emma, first off, I commend you for your courage in comforting those kids. That's honestly SO inspiring to read. I think you'll be fine. I've heard tons of stories on this site about people cleaning up after people with SV, drinking from the same cups they drank from, etc., and not getting sick. I think you're going to be okay. Since they're so young, it's possible that it's rotavirus—that's something that kids get but most adults are immune to. If that's the case, it's very very unlikely that you'll get sick. Or maybe it was food-related? But even if it was noro, just hugging someone can't spread it. Try eating something with ginger (tea, capsule, candied ginger) and listening to music. Hope you feel better.

Thanks. That's really sweet of you.. I'm nauseous again today with some stomach pain. I can't distinguish actual sickness from anxiety though so it is a little nerve wracking.

If I were to get sick, I think it will happen today. The uneasy stomach is here as well as a hot feeling in my chest and throat if that makes sense. It's been almost 48 hours since I was last exposed, but I never trust the countdown.

I've been kinda nauseous over the last few days and I've had that rush of heat in my chest/face too, and nothing happened... I think that's partially connected to anxiety (at least, in my case, I was really stressed). An uneasy stomach and hot feeling doesn't mean you'll get sick, don't worry. It looks like you're out of the woods; as I understand, it's really rare for anything to happen after 48 hours. Congrats on making it through the weekend! Btw, and did the kids who got sick have diarrhea as well? If they didn't, there's a good chance that it wasn't SV at all.

How are you feeling? I give you credit working with the kids. That's tough and sometimes scary work!

Wow... kudos for being able to work in a daycare....I would NEVER be able to work up the courage to do that...although,at the rate I'm going,I may have to start my own daycare! Lol
Sv* is transferred by ingesting the vomit or poo particles...were you by them when they v*ed? Did you put your hands near your nose or mouth? If not,you should be fine....I comfort my kids after they get sick and I haven't got a sv* ...in at least 15 years! (Last time I v*ed I was 7)
