But last because last time I V*d (7 years ago) I always convince myself that that is going to follow!? Although it doesn't and there is a SV going round at moment that is just D*. Please help as I am feeling really anxious xxx

I know exactly what you mean by associating the two. I get super nervous when I have d* but I also have a super sensitive stomach and I get d* all the time and I haven't had sv* in over 6 years. So although sometimes d* is followed by v* I would say it's rare. I mean I would say that I get d* at least a few times a month and no v* for 6 years so the odds are more in favor of it just being d*. I know that my anxiety can also cause d* as can certain types of food like dairy and even eating at the wrong time of day. Are you n* at all or feeling anything else? If not then I'm sure you're fine. Sometimes just resting with a hot pack on the stomach or taking a warm bath helps. I hope you feel better soon.

I am feeling very n* but I think this is just the anxiety causing this, I have taken some Imodium to try stop it as I can't handle it. I think I'm just trying to convince myself myself that I'm going to V* for some stupid reason, I wish I could just get a grip!! X

I've been there many times. The anxiety can definitely cause n*, heck for me it can also cause d*. Try to do anything you can to get your mind off of it, TV, a computer game, step outside for some fresh air, take a bath or shower. If you have ginger ale or 7up, have some of that too. Sometimes for me just curling up on the couch with a blanket and a movie helps the most. I'd say try to sleep, but I know that when I feel anxiety and n* sleep is almost impossible. Hope you feel better. Remember, this too shall pass!

I do this all the time. Mainly because a few years ago I had norovirus and immediately having d* I v*ed really badly, ever since then if I have d* I automatically think the same thing will happen. I try everything in my power to stop myself from having to go (even though deep down I know this makes things worse) but sometimes you just have to give in. I always tend to feel better afterwards but there is those few moments when you're sat there on the toilet and the anxiety is just horrible. I've had IBS for quite some time now, but only recently anxiety has been serving as quite the laxative so I've been having it more often.

I've found that the more you hold it in, the worse you feel, and once you finally do go, you slowly start to feel better. I try sucking on mints as well as it tends to help with the nauseous feeling. A DVD or something also serves as quite a good distraction.

I didn't use to associate d with v-ing much. I had v-ing without d in 1987. In the late eighties and early nineties, I'd have bouts of loose bowels and occasionally they were pretty watery. Maybe those times were the sv without v-ing. When I last v-ed with the sv in 2001, it started out with watery d. I thought maybe it was IBS until I also got very n. Before long, I started v-ing, which I did several times. I also had several bouts of liquid d. I recovered within a day or so. However, ever since then, whenever I have loose bowels, I worry about the possibility of sv because the last time I v-ed, it started out with d. So now I associate d with v-ing. I also worry about my colon gurgling and the creepy misty feeling I get when I have panic attacks, because those happened with the last sv, as well.
