My co-worker that has been sick all week wants to go out on Saturday with her boys and me and my little brother-in-law. The boys have been fine for over a week now, but she still is a little under the weather. She never v*, and her d* stopped a couple of days ago, but she's not eating still because she said she is "nervous". She just eats baked potatoes, bread, bananas, etc. Would it be safe to go? I am not feeling particularly well today - my sinuses have been draining, my throat hurts, and I have a headache, so I feel like my immune system is already a little down. Should I go? I'm still freaking out about getting it from her as it is, but I certainly don't want my brother in law to get it (the 4 year old one).I tried to just put ti off when she first suggested it, but she keeps asking about it. Help!!

I think the only way you will be at ease is if you put it offfor a few more days. Always trust your instincts.

I talked to my husband about it and he thinks I should go. I am so scared! Both boys will have been fine for at least a week, and if the mom (the girl I work with) hadn't gotten it I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But she got it last Saturday and is still recovering. She is much better - no more d* - but I don't feel comfortable until she is eating normal again. Do you think she is still contagious? I think her d* actually stopped on Tuesday. She took her son the Chuck E CHeese for his 4th birthday Wednesday and just ate teh pizza crust. She said that made her stomach start gurgling, but her husband said it was probably from not eating much for so long (plus their pizza is pretty greasy and gross anyway .

I am still worrying about me getting it from her being at work all week anyway. I have tried to be careful about keeping my hands clean and everything, certainly before I eat, but I do catch myself resting my face on my hand from time to time. I think it was rotavirus - is that contagious for a long time afterwards? Please give me some advice!!!!!!

Are you sure she actually had a bug or was it food poisoning? And some people simply avoid eating for a long period afterwards simply because their tired immune system feels better without a lot of food.

I think you should not go... Only because you will be putting yourself thru too much stress worring about the what if's... try to put it off another week to save yourself from more stress. It seems as if you are stressing out enough as it is just being at work with this woman. It looks like she has a bug thats taking its sweet time to run its course.

She said she still isn't eating because she is scared to test it. What little she does eat - bagels, bananas, baked potoatoes - sits fine. The thing is this is the only weekend we can do this. My brother-in-law is going home Sunday and he probably will not be back for a couple of months. She just got in, so I haven't asked her how she's doing yet. I am trying to avoid her until I make my decision. This is a classic case of this phobia getting in the way of enjoying life!!

I think you should go for it! I know and can understand why people would tell you not to, so you don't have undue worry, but I really think one of the keys to getting over this fear is "avoiding avoidance", if that makes sense. I think Sage said that at some point. If you do this thing that you are scared to do, you will feel such a sense of accomplishment. I am sure everything will be fine! Let us know how it goes!!

Well, I just talked to her and she said that last night she had some chicken noodle soup and it upset her stomach. But she had been fine for 2 days before that. SHe does have IBS and she was wondering if maybe it was just that. I know when I haven't eaten in a while, and then I eat, my IBS rages. So, I am confused again. I was leaning towards going, but now I don't know. A sv wouldn't make you fine for a couple of days then kick back in, would it?

No, I really think you will be fine if you go. As many people on here know, if you don't eat for awhile, it's always hard on the system to get back to eating. I'm gonna stick with what I said...go for it!

She told me with her boys it came and went like that too: they were fine duringhte day then sick at night. But I don't think they went 2 days between being sick. I am still so nervous. Do you think she is still contagious??

I really don't think so. There are so many conflicting stories about this, but the most common one is that you have to come in pretty close contact with the person and their...you know, whatever they are producing. Gross, I know. So, just don't make out with her and you should be fine! Good luck!

We would take my car, and I would definitely avoid using the bathroom after her. I don't think there is any chance of us making out
