Default Had this for a little while...

Hey guys i know this isnt a health forum but by nature any emetophobe is pretty careful and anxious with their help so i hoped to enlist the help of other phobes.

I have been ill with a cold since Tuesday. It started with me being unable to swallow anything, then only recently did my doctor tell me to garge aspirin in water, which resulted in a coughing fit and now my throat just feels sore. Right now ive started taking the meds he told me to take and their tingling the back of my throat making me want to cough,Now i HATE coughing because my dad was coughing himself to v* couple weeks back.

Can anyone help me? Nothing seems to work! And my throat normally just makes me not bothered to do daily things .

So please let me know what you guys have diagnosed this fellow emetophobiac with haha

Well, if it still hurts enough that you can't even swallow water (and the pain doesn't go away after days) it could be strep throat, though I don't recall that causing coughing in my case... Basically, it could be just a cold. Sometimes it'll turn into a cough that lasts a few days or weeks. What I usually take to help with that is I eat lemon slices with salt on them and I drink ginger tea with honey. It helps with the coughing, especially honey. There's not much to be done for sore throats and coughs unless it's strep (which requires antibiotics).

eek, you poor thing. I get tonsillitis ever year without fail - waiting for it to return this year. I resort to little annoying throat clearing actions. Lemon and Manuka honey in hot water too.

about your dad, there is whooping cough going around affecting people especially aged 40+ as their immunity is waning from their childhood shots, it's called the Hundred Day Cough because it lasts 100 days. Its characterised by periods of coughing fits which can sometimes lead to v*. They can only give antibiotics in the first 3 weeks though.
fortunately as young-ish folk we're really well protected, everyone getting a but older should get a booster shot
