    Default Hand washing.

Does anyone have a hand washing ritual? How long do you usually wash?

I follow the lab guidelines (did a lot of lab work during my degree) of scrubbing hands with soap for at least 15 seconds (usually I do 30 secs) and making sure to wash above the wrists, between fingers and rubbing the tips of fingers on my palm. If I have been doing something very grimy I will use a nail brush too. Then rinse for around 10 secs. And I always touch a different part of the faucet when opening and closing them, just so I don't cross-contaminate. When I'll have my own place I think I will install those lab sinks that you can turn on/off with your feet.

I usually wash for at least a minute, sometimes I go as long as three-five minutes. I go a little overboard...

A minute is all that is really needed, studies done on noro transmission showed that proper hand washing for one minute removed all of the viral particles (from directly touching contaminated d*), consistently. So the extra time really isn't necessary.
