This is a huge issue for me. I HATE taking new meds, not only because of possible nausea and vomiting, but also because I have no known allergies and it's in my hypochondriac nature to fear that every new pill I take will be 'the one' and it will cause an allergic reaction. I also avoid anything that causes drowsiness because I can't stand feeling out of control.

Not really, unless they are known to cause severe nausea and vomiting in pretty much all cases (like chemo). I'm more worried about other effects on the body, such as whether or not they caused tumors in lab animals, toxicity to organs, potential of altering brain function, etc. As for nausea and vomiting being listed as possible side effects, well, they're always there it seems due to the nature of clinical trials where they have to record any side effects experienced by the participants, whether directly caused by the medication or not. But I follow to the letter the instructions about not mixing medications with alcohol or other substances. Some antibiotics against anaerobic bacteria cause pretty severe illness when mixed with alcohol.
Oh yes. It scares me to death that whatever new medicine it is, will cause *n or *v. I hate taking new medicine.
Absolutely! I think this is one of the major reasons I steer clear of medicine as much as I can. If I do take it, I make sure it's after eating something so it has a lesser chance of upsetting my tummy.
Yeah, especially when nausea is a common side effect of it.
