    Default Did you escape noro?

Hi there,I'm new here but was a member many years ago!!!
I've had this phobia since I was about 4 and I'm now 32 and have 1 little girl,me,my husband and my little girl and not sicky people thank god,but you know when you just think it's your turn next with this god damn noro going about,I'm fed up of hearing about it.

My question is,is there anyone out there that's had the noro affect their family and managed to escape it,I'm looking for some hope incase my little girl catches it from school.
    Thanks in advance!!!

When my daughter was a little girl,I never caught any sickness from her...but then again I'm not sure if it was noro,or a different bug like Rota virus for instance! I was useless with her when she was poorly and the poor girl has ended up an emet like me! Hate myself for that

my daughters been sick on a couple of occasions through coughing and I just freaked out and screamed for my hubby to help and I think she senses it and now she worries about getting sick,so I've probably turned her into an Emet too x

My family caught noro from a hotel room when we were kids, my grandma took care of us (my parents included) and didn't catch it, mostly because she washed her hands well.

My daughter is 21 now! Breaks my heart to see her overly obsessing about washing her hands etc,I'm glad I only had the one child because it was hard enough having to cope with her when she was ill let alone having to go through it over and over again if it had spread from child to child

Not me personally, but my mother did. A few years ago my sister, father, and myself had all gotten noro. I was old enough to take care of myself, but not clean up after myself. My little sister still needed mom to help her out, and my father slept in bed beside my mother. Needless to say, she was in the thick of it making sure we were all taken care of. She didn't wear a mask, she just kept her hands washed and watched out for us. She never caught it. She's a tough cookie

I was but I didn't know it was a legitimate phobia at the time. I probably drove my mom crazy that night! I made her use my dad as a guinea pig. If they wanted me to take pepto, he had to take it first. If he was still sick, I wouldn't take it. After we were all done being sick, I was still too scared to eat. My dad ate a doughnut, and told me that I had to at least eat a full doughnut over the course of the day or else I'd have to go to the hospital for an IV. That's the only way another doctor got him to eat after being sick when he was younger, and it worked for me too!

Nah, I've only had one since then. Thankfully my phobia is nearly nonexistant now, so even if I did I don't think I'd be a mess

My husband and I have been together for 7 years and he got the sv* only once which was last year (when my emet spiked) and I didn't get it. We slept in the same bed and only have one bathroom.

I do know that my mother NEVER got sick when my sister and I did. My sister and I were not sickly children. I could count on my one hand how many times I got ill, but my mother nor father never got it and we shared a bathroom as well.

    You are not doomed!

I wouldn't say 100% cured, but it's hard for me to say, because even non emets are grossed out by vomit. I'm not sure if my level of repulsion is normal or not haha.

It was hard work, but I was dedicated to it. I decided to didn't want to live my life in fear anymore, so I started forcing myself to do things and proving to myself I was okay. I went to hypnotherapy, and that completely turned my life around. When I went to it my comfort level with vomiting (on a scale of 1-10) was a 1, after the first session a 3, after the next a 5, and after the last one definitely a 7 or higher. I was able to get through a stomach bug without crying or any fear just a few months afterwards. I was still nervous about hearing or seeing others do it, but I'm at the point now where I can hear it and my heart skips a beat at first, but then I'm calm and anxiety free. I can see it on TV and films and I just think it's wicked gross. That being said, I also think watching scenes in House or Fringe where they cut into people is gross too.
