Default Another question! About touching your face.

So I touch my face. A lot. I always get itches on my forehead or cheek or chin. I never touch or scratch the inside of my eyes, nose or mouth, but if I have an itch on the tip of my nose I'll scratch it. Sometimes I do it with the inside of my shirt. I'm still wondering if I could transmit germs by doing those things, and also if anyone has any tips on how to keep my hands away from my face? It's always so itchy!!!!

Switch cleansers, exfoliate, moisturize. I have sensitive skin. I like Burts Bees soap bark and chamomile. I use Kiss your Face moisturizer. There are lots of good ones out there.

You will be fine if you touch your nose. You just do not want germs in your body like your mouth or eyes.

Well, yes, like Cynna said you might want to address the cause of the itch first Avoiding the mucosa (eyes, nostrils, mouth) is the key to avoiding catching things. If you use the inside of your shirt, it's safe. If you use your hands when they're not clean, well consider that part of your face potentially contaminated... as in if you touch it again and put your fingers in your mouth you might catch something. But if you wash your face as soon as you get home, then you can touch your face after and it'll be fine. Also, do you wear makeup? Cause I know most powders make my face itchy.. and wearing "soft" shirts with angora hair cause then the fibres get on my face and it's so annoying and itchy. Usually itching is a sign of dry skin, you might want to use a good natural moisturizer (something with no irritants, like glaxal base). Also clean pillow cases more often and try to avoid fabric softener because it might be the cause.

I have Lupus so I've got a butterfly rash, there's not really any fixing the itch. Grr.

You may want to check with your doc or a lupus support site to see if the recommend anything to help with the itching. I would hate to recommend a product that could make it worse.

My roommate in college had it. She wore a self tanner and sunscreen since she could not go in the sun. She used Clinque brand. This was 20 yrs ago. She also had to take care of herself and make sure she got plenty of rest.

    Hope you are doing good.
