I just got the July 4th issue of First magazine-see page 24-25. This is a two page spread so I'll just give you an idea of the article.A woman named Lorena writes: During the 80's I was hit with a slew of medical problems, including migraines, chronic fatigue, and severe muscle cramps. One day she was driving to work when her heart began to race and she had trouble breathing. She went to the ER and was shocked to be diagnosed with gastritis- a spastic colon and irritable bowel syndrome. She said she was in the hospital many times over 20 years but never got better. She started having more symptoms as well. Throughout the ordeal, she thought the one thing she was doing right was drinking flavored water. Then about 2 yrs ago, she noticed aspartame was on the label of it and also the diet soda she drank and she used it in her coffe and tea-which she always felt worse after ingesting. Well, as I said this is a long article but to make a long story short, Some women have "aspartame sensitivity" and just a sip of diet soda can bring on unwanted symptoms, while drinking alot of it can overstimulate the nerves and wreak havoc on brain chemistry, therefore causing many adversesymptoms. They said in the article that aspartic acid(or phenylalanine)is hidden in stuff like meds, vitamins, and toothpaste!
