Default Have I got this right? Possible exposure?

Okay so this week has been tough! Went back to work for the first time in five months and noro has been running riot round the office!

Anyway last night I plucked up the courage to go to a big family do. Last year my anxiety was so bad I couldn't so it was a big thing this year, and I really enjoyed it! I had a great night, lots of food, lots of talking.

Then today I find out that mother in law has been 'in and out of the bathroom' all night. Apparently everyone else is okay so we don't think it's the food. I spoke to my other half and he reckons it's the amount she drank (she did drink a bottle of wine and some neat blackberry vodka that smelt like cough mixture..!) and apparently father in law thinks she just over did it. She's had a really bad head cold all week and has been off work and mentioned that she hadn't eaten a lot this week, so reckons she over indulged. Plus the fact that she has just recently started some depression tablets. Do you think it's just a matter of over indulgence? She doesn't think it's a hangover, she thinks it could be a bug.

I'm not sure how I feel because part of me knows the science - she wasn't showing sv* symptoms last night (as far as I'm aware) but she made the cancapés which I ate so I'm worried.

My other half doesn't reckon it's a bug as she is known in the family for loving her wine, but I just wanted someone from here to give their view. x

I would be thinking exactly the same as you but, being completely rational (which I can do when it's not me!) it sounds like over indulgence to me. A bottle of wine and neat blackberry vodka would definintely make me ill! Also if she has been poorly this week she may have taken medicine for that and as you say she's also taking depression medication which may well react with alcohol as I know some do.

Yes that's what I thougght Tracey as my anxiety medication actually states not to drink alcohol whilst using them for treatment so fingers crossed it's not that. It's just horrible when you hear and you start to feel queasy. Thanks for your reply though x

I know what you mean. I only have to hear about someone being ill and I start feeling n*. I'm sure you will be ok (and I really mean it) but I do understand how hard it is x

Oh goodness! I think it is without a doubt a case of over indulgence! I wouldn't worry at all...

Hi people with Norovirus or any stomach bug the people are usually quite ill i mean in themselves (taking out the v* aspect of things ) they usually would be too ill/weak to be at a party, and have to be in bed or laid on the couch .. it does make a person very weak and feel very rough. she sounds like she was ill because of too much drink.

I can understand that as soon as I know that someone i have been near has been s*** i instantly feel symptoms, and start to feel ill but your mind zones in on any movement /feeling your stomach makes. Please don't worry

If she hasn't ate much and over indulged in drink, I think that can be unsettling for your stomach. Also it could be down to the medication so I wouldn't really worry about SV* until you have the full story since it's more likely something else rather than SV*
