This is a similar story as the poster who was so hungry that she ate
McDonalds and then felt worry afterwards about food poisoning/sv/etc. I
just had lunch at this place we always go to and ordered a salad with
tofu. Well while the cashier was making up my salad I saw that she
didn't use gloves. She was using tongs to handle the lettuce, etc. and
mix it up in the bowl, but she was touching the bowl with her bare
hands.

I read on this board this morning that sv's are transferred through
certain bodily materials- is it possible that she wasn't as hygenic as
she should have been and then she touched the bowl, and then my food
touched the bowl, etc......

It's like the other poster said, I was so hungry that I just ate it but
now I regret it and am so worried that I am going to get an sv.....

I am sorry to ask such an asinine question... thanks again everyone....

if she was only touching the bowl it would have been fine, I'm sure. My parents make my meals without washing their hands at any point and I'm always fine

lewisr, I agree that you should be fine.

One thing I do want to say is that everyone here is in the same boat as
you, so no one finds that question asinine. We all obsess about this
same stuff! It may annoy some of the "normal" people, but you don't need to apologize for it here.

Thank you. I guess I just feel bad that now I've discovered this
wonderful forum, I hate to take advantage of the warm welcome I've
received. I promise to try to be as much of a "helper" as a "helpee."

For what it's worth, I can't stop obsessing about this lunch. What
really has me primarily concerned is that the woman who made my salad
was also manning the cash register - and if you'll forgive the
glibness, money is usually quite dirty....

Thanks again,

Lewis

I used to work as a cashier in a bank and I've seen money in some horrendous states and none of the people I worked with (a lot of whom didn't wash their hands before breaking out their sandwiches etc) never had any problems and I've never known any of them get sick this way. Same as now when I work in a shop. You'll see that you'll feel fine, don't worry we're all here to help
