What are the chances of getting sick from eating a salad from Wendy's...I am eating one as I type this and I am just not sure...it tastes fine...but there is some water on the bottom of the bowl...I hope it's just from where they have cleaned the lettuce...I don't know...I am just being paranoid I think...what are your opinions???? Thanks...Kate

I have eatin a ton of wendys salads. Not sick once from them. Mine have always had water on the bottom. I dont eat out what so ever anymore cause my phobia has got so bad the last few years and getting worse. I am here alone in my new apt with med school less then two weeks away. I want to quit. I wish I wanted to do something else. My stomach is upset and I feel like I have a fever. I am so stressed out. I dont see how I will get through it. Sorry for going of on a tangent. But your salad is fine. I wish I was brave enough to eat out again!

Thanks Mak....that makes me feel better...I am always so scared about food from fast food places...I had heard a story one time where someone ate a salad from Wendy's and they were sick all night long....however...who knows if it was the salad or a sv....you just don't really know what causes it sometimes.....

I am sorry you are feeling so bad right now....have you actually taken your temp? Take some tylenol...and a nap...that always makes me feel better...I know that med school must be really hard...and you are so brave for even attempting to go through that...keep your chin up....you will feel better soon...every time I feel really really bad...I have to keep saying to myself..."Hey, you won't be sick forever"....and that it will go away and you will feel better soon....Best of luck to you and I honestly hope you aren't too terribly sick with anything......Thanks for your response....Kate

I took my temp and it was just above normal. Like one degree higher then normal. It could be that I am ovulating. it happens to me. I just feel kind of IBS today too. I hope you salad tastes good. I always like the spring mix salad. Thanks for your words of encouragement!

Yes IBS and PMS are such a pain. It takes up so much of my life. One case of d, or N and its over. I wont leave the house. Even though I should now everytime its IBS or PMS I keep freaking myself out saying its a stomach virus everytime. You would think I would finaly just say, okay I had d from PMS or IBS but NOOOOO. I cant do that. Its automaticaly the dreaded sv in my head and I waste an entire day worrying about it! Ugh.

PS I am feeling better now. Its been a while since I had to run to the bathroom

Thanks Mel...so far so good...it was really tasty......you better go get you something to eat soon if you are starving....

I know everytime i get this way with pms and ibs...i always just think it's a sv....even though it probably isn't...it makes me so mad though....it is just not fair....Why we have to suffer like this all the time is beyond me...guess that's the way it's meant to be though...because i have been this way for so long...if i wasn't sick or didn't feel bad in some way...i would think i was ABNORMAL.......now isn't that sad.....Kate

    Hi Kate,

i just wanted to tell you about a programme I once saw about Wendy's. However, what I have to say DOES NOT refer to salads there so there is no need to worry!

A couple of years back there was a programme about "Restaurants from Hell" in the UK. It was about 2 kids who got seriously food poisoning from the chicken there. One of them died and the other was in intensive care for some time becuase the infections were so horific. Obviously, there are no Wendy's in the UK so I don't know if there have been any other cases etc. But that would sure put me off eating there! Apparantely they got sewed and stuff too.....

But anyway..... Im probably really exaggerating over one case, is it a popular fastfood chain like McDonalds?

I'm sure the salad is fine. I used to get the taco one and it was soooo good! MMM! As far as the one's that had bad publicity I wouldn't recommend eating at either of those but if the one you ate at doesn't have a bad rep than you will be fine. Besides alot of them are franchises so if one or 2 particular ones don't do what they are supposed to than you get problems. I hope you enjoyed your salad and can enjoy your night w/o worry. The salad is fine!

Well, I have said this before, but I will say it again. It makes me sad when posts on this site cause people to worry MORE than they already do, which is already too much in my opinion! (Myself included!) I agree with all who said that you will be just fine from the Wendy's salad. I have eaten them many times, and so have many others, and we have all been fine. Please don't let the scary post above cause you more undue worry. Well, Simplyme just said she posted about this exact same thing, so I'll shut up now! You will be fine!

Oh no! I did certainly not want to cause anymore undue worry to anyone. Like I said it was programme 2 years ago and it was about chicken. Thats why I made the point that it wasnt about the salads!!!!

    Hope you are feeling ok!!</TD></TR>

I don't really believe that it is sound logic to saythat so and so got very sick one time two years ago (or whenever ago) on Wendy's chicken, McDonald's salad, TGI Friday's fish and chips, wherever's whatever fill in the blank, so it's not safe to eat there or to eat that particular food anymore. When it comes down to it, someone somewhere has been sick from any and every food that exists. Taking an individual case and generalizing it to all similar cases just isn't a good idea and can intensify fear for no good reason at all. We do need to be careful about this type of stuff.

Well, as an employee of Wendy's (temporarily), I can say that your salad is just fine. They make the salads fresh everyday and are particular about not using expired ingredients and such. The water on the bottom is most likely from washing the lettuce. Not a problem.
