well, Im on the 5th month of tri cyclin and my face actually looks worse. Ive got So many white heads on my forehead, its gross.

I was on Diane 35 for like 5 years and never once had a zit while on it, but I've been hearing so much about the controversy with this pill that I decided to give it up and try something new.

so the tri cyclin isnt working, Ive tried all those creams, what else can i do?

has anyone here been on tri cyclin? did it clear up your face, or make it worse, and how long did it take untill you saw an improvement?

I am unfamiliar with tricyclin, but is ita low dose antibiotic? When I was younger I had real problems with zits and I found going on a low dose antibiotic was helpful. I actually thought I would never grow out of it, but thankfully I did! It is hard though..isn't it. The doctors talked about putting me on a drug- roacutane which is pretty severe and I didn't want to do that. It is a jolly nuisance needing to take medication...but good luck with your quest.

tricyclin is not a low dose antibiotic, they would not prescribe an antibiotic as a form of pimple control ( at least to my knowledge). It is a birth contol pill that is supposed to be the best at clearing up skin.

as far as acutane is concerned, my acne is not bad enough to make me want to go on that. that is pretty strong stuff that I wouldn't touch witha 10 foot pole.

I'm kind of looking for information to do with birth control, i guess I wasn't very clear in my post

    but thanks for your input!

    Hi Babydoll,

Up until 3 months ago, I was on Dianne 35 too. The only reason that I stopped it was because my prescription ran out, and I have to find a doctor in my new area and register, before getting more.

I did still get spots (big, sore ones at times, especially on my neck and jaw line) while I was on it, but not as badly as before I went on it.

The last time I wanted a prescription for Diane, my doctor told me that he worried a bit about giving them to me, as they have just had results from a study that showed that it can cause brittle bones and Osteoporosis. Great.

My face was fine for the first two months, while I was off Diane, and I have been using a cream called Eskamel, which is foundation/skin colour, and seems to work really well overnight. But I would rather prevent them than treat them as they appear, so will be going back on the pill as soon as I can. (Also for contraceptive purposes though.)

My mom gets Eskamel from a pharmacy/drugstore for me in South Africa, and i'm not sure if you get it in the UK or anywhere else in the world. Worth a look though!

    Sorry couldnt be more helpful

Tetracycline is an antibiotic used for clearing up acne. I was on that a long time ago. It did work, but my body worked up a resistence to it, so it stopped working. I'm now on Adoxa (doxycycline). That seems to be working. I started taking those a couple months ago. I also use Retin-A Micro gel on my face at night. I really like that stuff and have been on it for years. In the morning, Iput on a topical antibiotic called Clindagel (Clindamycin). It seems like a lot to do, but not really. I don't wear any foundation or powder or anything like that. Just lipstick. My face is clear now. *Knock on wood*lol Another thing that is good for prevention of pimples or helping your complexion is exercising, water, keeping your hands off of your face at all times, and trying not to worry about things. I'm starting not to sweat the small stuff anymore.lol

I was on Minocycline at one point for my acne, but stopped taking it because it decreased the effectiveness of my pill (orthotrycycline). I never really noticed the pill helping or hurting my complexion. I still break out, but I think a lot of it is realated to stress and diet (also genetic - my mom still gets really bad acne). I agree with princessmel- drinks lots and lots of water!! When I do that it really seems to help. The problem is forcing myself to drink it. It also gets bad around that time of the month, too. I have really sensative skin, so I have to be careful what I use topically. I am alergic to Benzoil Peroxide. I found out the hard way - I tried that stuff htey advertise on TV, I forget what it was called, but I broke out worse than I have even been in my life! My entire face was red, itchy, swollen - it wasn't only pimples but also a nasty rash. It was a couple of months before my wedding and it took me that whole time to just get my skin back to where it was. If anyone has a miracle cure for this, let me know!
