hello everyone,

i came across this site because i am fed up of panicking about v****. I am only 13 yo and this is runiing my life. I still feel alone tho after reading this site because i am not scared of myself being sick, its other people. If someone even indicates that they feel sick i panic. I cant go on school trips because i am afraid someone is going to v**** I hate it. I havent slept at any of my freinds house for 1year because i am so scared.

I wish there was a cure and i hope someone will be able to talk to me about this.

thanks
cammii

Welcome to the site! Everyone here is great and will be able to help you through your tough times. Have you told your parents about your phobia? They might be able to help you find someone that can help. Although my family knew I hated to be sick, I don't think they knew how serious it was until many many years later. I think getting help early is the key to being cured. Otherwise the phobia is so engrained in your mind that it is a lot harder to fight it. Anyways, welcome again!

well even tho i primarily fear myself v*ing, i do fear others v*ing a lot too.... when my sister last v*ed i was hysterically crying on my bed with music playing full blast in my ears rocking back and forth. i remained there for about 3 hours even though she mut have been finished within seconds.

ur not alone. but u r young and its good uv already told ur parents..

i've had this since i was 11 but never really realised it was emetophobia until i was 15... since then things have gradualy been going up.. sometimes the knowledge and understanding of having a named disorder can help u to get better.

Hello. Welcome to the website!

I am thirteen years old too. I understand the parents thing. My mother always teases me saying she is going to vomit all the time and makes sounds like she is vomiting just to scare me. It is horrible. You are right; I do not think parents, unless they are emetphobes too, understand how horrible this phobia is.

Oh yes. And the school trips thing. It totally sucks what emetophobia does, doesn't it? I can go on regular school trips, but if we have a school trip where we have to go up a mountain, like this place called Camp Hi Hill in 5th grade, kind of near where I live. I could not go. Emetophobia ruins a lot of things.

If I were you, I would try to get help early. I have not tried to get professional help yet, but you can learn a lot from this website. It is hard to find a person that can help, though, like a professional, because a lot of them do not even understand the phobia! You can probably get some great recommendations from other emets herein your area that have gotten treatment somewhere.

Good luck!

Same with my mum. She always has conversations with them, and when she's sick she'll broadcast it to me and anybody around when I'm there.

I'm 14, by the way, so I know what it's like to be a young emet.

Hi~ (I'm a little late) I'm 16 and i'm still young too. I'm scaredof myself and others getting sick, you arent alone. I'd go crazy if someone said they were feeling sick. I even look out for any changes in behavior from someone. I, too skip school trips because of this. If I go I make my mom come with me and its really sad to be the only person with their mom coming on their trips at 16 years old. ^^

Hi! I'm 14 (has it since iw was three), so i can relate about how it is being a young emet and everything. I'm actually afraid of both myself and other people, so you definetly aren't alone. When I first showed signes of emet my parents reacted with anger, laughing, etc. basically not believing. Finally I convinced them to take me to a psychologist and they are a lot better about it, but my mom still has a temper about it. It's really good that you talked to your mom, maybe after that you can get help. Welcome!

Any parent who does anything that scares a child who has a phobia, is
abusing that child. It does not matter whether or not the parent
shares that phobia or not. I am so sorry that youngemet222 is being
teased. It only compounds the phobia and makes it worst.

I'm 18 so I'm a little older than you guys but I've had this phobia for as long as I can remember, so I can still relate.

I'm sorry you feel alone cammii, but I know there's plenty of emets
that fear other people getting sick. Some are even like you and they
fear it more than themselves getting sick. My primary fear is myself
getting sick but I've always hated seeing other people get sick too. I
also know that everyone here will help you feel welcome.

I'm also relating to what you guys are saying about your moms not
understanding. Her and I just never seemed to understand each other. My
dad tries to be supportive but he doesn't understand either. Oh and I
just want to say, youngmet, that I was appalled by you saying that your
mom tries to scare you by acting like she's v*. That's inexcusable. My
parents can be irritating with their wanting me to "just get over it"
sometimes, but I can't imagine them doing something like that!
I'm so sorry you have to go through that. Just know that there
are people who understand what you're going through and you are by no
means alone (as is obvious by the number of members there)

You will improve, Its scary now because all this is new to you and your only 13 so how can you know that it will get better, it will because you will get used to your feelings and learn to live with it, You are not isolated because I dont think anyone likes v..ing but its strange how we cope if it happened to us, Remember, the fear of it is always much worse than the event and doesnt last as long either. You'll be fine. Emetos have an amazing ability to stop theierselves being sick. Ask any of us.

Hey guys, I just joined here as a 13 year old emet, so I just want to say I understand completely what you're going through cammii. I've told my mom and everyone in my family that I have emetophobia, and when I mention it, my mom basically flat out believes I'm lying and my aunt understands a little bit, but when someone in my family is sick, and I run to my room she thinks I'm just being silly, even though I've had this fear since I was about 4. It's not so much the fear that I'll v*, since I do it pretty often in my nervousness of someone else v*ing, it's just that almost everywhere I go on vacation, or out to eat, I end up seeing someone else v*, and it totally changed my view of things, so now it's an an extreme where I get nevous to go outside or even watch movies sometimes, in fear of seeing someone else v*. I seriously can't go over to my one friend's house anymore ever sine I heard her aunt v* at a pool party. I haven't brought the subject up to my mom lately, and now that I've discovered this site and seen how supporitve everyone is of eaach other, it really touched me. I really thing I should talk to her so, do you think I should sit her down and talk about it, then show her this site? I'm really nervous about how she's going to act, so could you tell me how your parents reacted to this news? I'd be really thankful.

TO LUNARSOUL, Yes get your mom told. You wont hibernate forever but it would be great to talk about it, you feel so much better and dont feel as alone. Its sometimes scary and you need to know you will be ok, (even if they do think we are silly) It lets us vent our feelings, Ha!My brother who is 42, and 2 years older than me laughs his socks off because he cant believe im scared of it, but I like talking to him as at least he brings a bit of humour and reality into it even though he thinks I'm crazy. Its all good.
