OT: Cough Syrup.

I have an upper respiratory infection and my doctor prescribed me Bromfed cough syrup yesterday. I've been taking at every four hours as directed and I have literally been high the last 30 hours. I just don't feel like this is normal, the level of "out of it" I'm experiencing. I've got an awful lump in my throat too.

What else are you taking? Are you taking any other cold medicines or any other drugs including herbal or OTC? It is basically sudafed, plus and antihisamine, plus a cough suppressant.

It says to call your doc if you have mood changes, severe dizziness or anxiety, feeling like you might pass out or hallucinations, Best thing to do is call a pharmacist and tell them everything you are taking along with your symptoms. Also let them know if you have any health problems or take vitamins including potassium. Feel better soon.

I'm not taking anything else, but I'm pretty dizzy and out of it. Pharmacy is closed. :/

We have 24 hours ones here. You can call random pharmacy to ask questions. I have done that lots of times.

Sometimes the hospital has a nurse helpline you can call. I can see why you are concerned. I hope you feel better soon.

I sometimes wish that my doctor would give me something that would get me high enough to forget my worries for a while!
