Default For those who have IBS

Ive suffered with IBS for many years. Mine is the constipation kind & comes & goes in severity. I hadnt been to the toilet since week yesterday, nothing that unusual there really. But when I went today for the first time in 8 days & within a couple of hours my stomach felt crampy & unsettled. Now I cant remember if this is what happens after such a time without going to the loo. I'm hoping & praying that it is only that. Anybody else get like this?

Yes. I have IBS-A (d and c alternating) and it is VERY normal to feel crampy and unsettled when you go after not going for a long time. You have just created some room for the rest of what's in your system to move down. It will pass.

Thanks for the encouragement. Im pretty sure Ive had this before but I tend to forget til the next bout & then all the fears start to rise -is it a sv* and so on ....

Im lying in bed with a hot water bottle clutched to my stomach trying to ease the pain. Ive also taken 2 anti-spasmodics (buscopan) & 2 painkillers but its not really easing.

IBS can be so miserable! I have been there. Sometimes when I have that kind of cramping, it helps to gently put pressure on the area with the palm of my hand, and sometimes it helps ease it. I hope you feel better very soon!

I've had IBS since I was a teenager, which was when my emet kicked into high gear. Sometimes I have loose bowels, which makes me panic because I'm afraid it could be the stomach virus. When I'm on the slow side, I go just a little bit a day. I've been taking Fiber Choice prebiotic tablets. They're the chewable kind.
