My husband is sick now!!!! I am in such a state of panic!!!! I dont know what to do. He seemed fine when he left for work about 4:30, but then he was home by 9:30. I am freaking out so bad because he gave me a kiss/peck on the mouth before he left. I was a dummy for letting him. It wasnt a french kiss or anything, but still. Am I doomed now? I am so scared and worried and freaking out I dont know what to do? Is there anything, I mean anything I can take or do to keep me from feeling bad and get through this. I havent freaked out this bad in a while.

That happened to me the last time my hubby was sick too. I kissed him goodbye that morning, then he called me later and told me he v*. THe good news is, I never got it. SV's are contagious until after the symptoms start, so I am sure you will be fine as long as you wash your hands and stuff. What exactly is wrong with him?

I havent talked to him too much, I did go and check on him though. I was at a friends house when I got "the call" I asked him if he was ok and he said, just let me sleep. So I have left him alone.

I hate this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So basically, I just know he is sick. I dont know if it is just nausea nd d* or if it is nausea and both V* and d* or what.

I hope that is right about it not being contagious til you are showing symptoms. I would think he knows me well enough to know not to kiss me if he was feeling bad like that.

I'm sure he didn't intentionally kiss you if he was feeling bad. Stomach stuff seems to come on really suddenly. It might have been something he ate that just didn't agree with him too.

Our insurance has one of those on call nurse lines, so I just called that. Thank God the woman was nice to me!!!! I told her about my fear and asked her exposure and stuff. She said that the v* stuff is spread through direct contact with someones cough, v*, ect ......... and that it is transmited that way, it has to enter your body through your ears, nose, or mouth. I asked her about the kiss we shared before he was sick, and she said, that I should be alright (of course they cant say for 100% sure) since he was not activly sick then or running fever, ect. She said that drinking after him and things like that is how it is spread. I hope she is right. I hate this. I am trying to remember all she told me, but its hard, and its so late and I am so tired, but I dont want to go to sleep. I am so scared!!!!!!!!!!!!

I meant to put eyes, nose, and mouth.

Sorry guys, I am just not in a great state of mind tonight.

Didnt you kiss your girlfriend one time and then she fell sick later the same day? Was it an sv? Has she had one since you guys have been dating?

I'm so sorry! Are you ok? You sound a little freaked
out. You said you are not sure if he has a sv* or not. He
may have eaten something that disagreed with his tummy. Have you
asked him what exactly is bothering him yet? I got a sv* two
years ago. A bad one. Two hours before I got it, I
shared a can of coke with my sister. She also took care of me all
night, and slept in my bad after I had been sick that night. She
didn't get it. Not even one symptom! I would tell you not
to worry, but I know thats hard to do. I'm on if you need to
write. Carrie

Girl, I could probally write all night, even though I want to sleep so bad, I am scared to. I think hubby has been on since he has been home, he is sleeping anyway, and I dont see any signs that he has been up in the bathroom. I am pretty sure it is an sv, I dont think its anything he has eaten. I am trying not to worry, I have even slept in the same bed with him before when he has been sick and I have been fine. I just hate this.

I know how horrible it can be...I've been there as well. But the
strange thing is, that I never got a sv* from anyone I was around that
I knew was sick. For the most part they were "mystery sv*".
I have no idea where I got them from. But us emets are so careful
when we know somene is v*, that most of the time we are ok. Even
as a child, I remember my mom taking care of me, my brother, and my
sister, and never catching it! She was never an emet, but she
used bleach and lysol and washed her hands a lot during those
times. You said you have slept next to your husband before when
he was sick? Was he v* then also? Carrie

I am sure you will be fine. I remember reading about something not too long ago about your child being sick too? I can't remember the details...but did your child have a bug?

I have also heard that someone is only contagious with the sv only after they have shown the symptoms....

My son was sick earlier in the week, and it was hubby that took care of him. He was like right up in his face almost when he was v'ing. I dont know if that is how he got it, or if he drank after him or what.

I agree that even though it's scary it doesn't necessarily mean you'll
get it. The last time a stomach virus hit my house was Febuary, and no
so coincidentally when my emet flared up again after being managable
for years. My dad was the first to get it and I had shared a drink with
him the night before he starte showing symptoms. I didn't catch it
though.

So unless you start making out with him right after he v*, I'd say there's no reason to assume you'll catch whatever he has.

have an sv, and no (knock on wood) she hasn't had one yet since weve
been together but shes one of those people who gets sick alot so im not
so confident that its not going to happen anytime soon...

My hubby is up and stiring around a bit. I asked him what happened and he said that he just felt like crap, and that all he has had is diarrhea. So I feel a little better about things, a very little. I went to the store per his request and got some Imodium, and some Pepto-Bismol tablets and some crackers. I stopped up at my mother in laws house on the way back from the store and my niece that was diagnosed last night with a urinary tract infection was up there laying on the couch with a towel under her head and basin on the floor to catch any v*. So now I cant go to my escape. I just hope that it is the urinarty tract infection causing her to v* and not a virus. I just want to get through this. I did sleep last night, I finally took some Benadryl and then watched some TV til I fell asleep.

Anywho, this is where we are right now ............

I just wanted to add that I talked to my hubby and asked him what exactly had happened. He said he was fine when he left for work, but not long after he got there, he started feeling bad. He said he was just achy and had diarrhea, he said he hasnt felt nauseous or anything. Atleast that is some good news, not that I want him feeling bad, but I can deal with this.

Well, I'm glad he wasn't v* for your sake. It could have been a lot of things that caused what he had. Maybe some too spicy food? How is he feeling now?

As far as your niece goes, I'm sure a UTI could cause v*. I thought I had one last Janurary and I was really n*, but it turned out to be kidney stones instead. But I could see a kid v* from the pain of a UTI.

Hang in there - it will all get better soon!

I just talked to my mother in law aboutmy niece and she said that she hasnt v* not one time since she has been at her house. She has even eaten and taken some Motrin for her fever and not v* that back up. I just hope what she has isnt a virus. I mean, they did a strep test and a urine test while she was there. The strep test was negative, but they said her urine had some white blood cells in it, or something like that. I dont know if her fever just got so high last night and that is why she v* or what. She had D* also, so I dont know. I dont know what to think. This has been the worst week I have had in a long time.

Jenny I noticed you posted on July 9th. If it was contagious you probably would have caught it by now. Please do not worry too much. When its SV there will be Direah and vomitting as the stomach lining gets inflamed and rejects everything in it. Therefore, your husband was probably under the weather...you know men, he probably ate something gross...maybe undercooked, maybe old...maybe its this heat if the weather is hot where you are...could be a number of things and he would have suffered a lot more with SV. Hope you are feeling good and let us know !!

Sorry LeighI just got your PM, how is everything going now?? My sister is up so I was hanging out with her and the kids. You will be fine, I doubt very much that you will get sick.
Here I am thinking that the "flu" seasons hit in the fall and winter! NO, they are here in the summer to. In the winter the cold kills the virus and in the summer when it is so warm and hot it doesn't kill it. I am beginning to think I am doomed 365 days a year.

I think you will be fine too. Even, worse case scenerio, say it's a sv, say he caught it from your son, you havent' caught it from your son. He was right up there next to him, probably wasn't as careful as you are and was probably worn down. That's another thing, being stressed/exhausted can make one feel sick even cause the runs so it most likely isnt' contagious but even if it is your chance of getting it is so slim. Just keep remindign yourself what the nurse said and remind yourself she IS a nurse, she has no reason to make things up to make you feel better and she knows her field. I hope both you and your hubby feel better soon!

So far, everyone is ok. Hubby is feeling better. I still am unsure about what is going on with my niece. Her mother was taking her back to the doctor today. We were actually around her yesterday, but she wasnt actively(sp) sick then. The last time she was v* was early Sat. morning sometime. The ER said she had a urinary tract infection. As my luck would have it though, my youngest daughter put something in her mouth that my niece had had in hers, but on the same token, she drank after her brother two days after he had been sick too, and nothing has happened ............ yet. I just hate this wait and see.

Anywho, this is where we are now.
