    Guys,

so if uve read my last post abt my horrid eve, u will have seen that i took an anti emetic drug last night and i now wonder how it works...

    Stemetil (UK)/Compazine (US)

now i dont know if i felt really sick or i was in a very bad panic attack - but despite taking the anti emetic - i could make my body retch and go thro thr motions. my questions -

    - did nothing come up coz i had taken the pill?
    - does the pill stop u feeling sick as well as being sick?
    - why could i still make myself retch and go thro all the motions of being sick - abt 10 times- despite taking the pill - ok i did stick my fingers down my throat each time - but still - does the pill not stop this reflex action???

help guys - i feel so afraid.

Hey Honey I'm sorry you went through all that. As far as I know anri emetics do 2 things, firstly they clear your stomach contents faster and they also work on the V* nerve in the brain so that your stomach will not bring up what is in it.

Anti-emetics work incredibly well. However, the brain's chemicals can be stronger than the medication given the right (or wrong, as the case may be) conditions in the body. Think of it in terms of a terrible poison. You would WANT for the brain to take over for the pills in this case...or else you'd die. 99.9% of the time compazine will prevent vomiting. If you do vomit on such a drug, you really needed to...
