    Default amoxicillin

hi all, just wanted to know if any of you have had experience taking amoxicillin--i started it 3 days ago for a raging tooth infection (and subsequent root canal) and i feel pretty n. its scaring me as i have tonight's dose left, plus 4 more days! i am also pregnant (18 weeks) which i'm sure is not helping. i've been eating yogurt as i heard that helps a little, but does anyone have any other suggestions? i am scared, but know i have to finish the course--the pain before the root canal was just awful. i don't want to go through that again. really appreciate any advice!

I have taken amoxicillin and had zero nausea. The nausea may be because you're pregnant? Try taking it with food, more than just yogurt. If the nausea is that bad that you can't stand it, ask your doctor if it's safe for you to take it with an antiemetic.

Sounds it's because of the pregnancy, never got nauseous from taking penicillin derivatives. The yogurt is for after the course of antibiotics (and you need a live culture yogurt) so you can renew the intestinal flora after the antibiotics might have destroyed it a bit.

I'm a different case but I can't take ANY oral antibiotics. After a few days, I'm s as a dog!! I do fine with injectables tho. It's a pain but my gut can't take antibiotics for some reason. I even tried probiotics etc and that didn't help. If antibiotics didn't bother you in the past, it probably isn't that. Most likely the pregnancy on top of everything else. If it still makes you n, ask for a long acting injectable dose. That won't bother your stomach
