    Default Cleaning up after noro

So, now that we have a baby in the house, and my younger son is s*, I want to find out the best ways to clean the house before the baby is crawling around again. And hopefully keep the rest of us from getting it.

Hard surfaces, I know, is bleach or lysol. Need to get some, don't keep any because we try to use healthier cleaners and bleach in laundry causes asthma with my son.

Laundry, does hot water and hot dryer kill the virus? I also put a few drops of Shaklee Basic G in the load of laundry to help kill some germs.

What is the best way to clean the carpet? Unfortunately it was a causality last night. It is clean now but not disinfected enough to let the baby crawl in there.

    Thanks!!

I spray Lysol on the carpet after I use my steam cleaner on it. If you don't have a carpet cleaner then spay Lysol on it.

I think what you are doing laundry-wise is just fine.
As for the carpet, this is the cleaning procedure according to the USDA:

    -----

    1. Put on a disposable face mask, nonabsorbent gloves, and gown/apron.
    2. Cover the vomit using disposable, absorbent materials such as paper towels.
    3. Carefully place the soiled paper towels in a plastic bag to minimize the chance of any particles becoming airborne.
    4. Disinfect carpets with a chemical disinfectant and steam clean for a minimum of five minutes at a temperature of 170°F or for one minute at 212°F.

    -----

They don't specify which disinfectant to use, but if the steam cleaner reaches 170-212 degrees then I'm not sure it really matters too much what kind it is.
If you don't have a steam cleaner, I'm quite sure you can rent one from a home improvement store like Lowes or Home Depot (if you're in the US). That's probably what I'd do. I rented a carpet cleaner last year from Home Depot to clean pet wiz out of our carpets :-/ It cost only $20 at the time.
