Hi, new here. I've been an emet since childhood. I have one little six year old boy who for the past week has had SV symptoms. He actually went the last two years previous without getting one, this will be the third he's gotten in his life. This is DEFINITELY the hardest part so far about being a mom for me. Anyway, he initially complained of stomach pain for a few hours v* four times in about three hours, and then fell asleep. Showed signs of no appetite for the next three days, on the third day seemed to be very "urpy/burpy", my husband had taken him out to lunch (while I was sleeping off xanax) and got him far too rich of food I'm afraid. That night he v* one more time and then had d* for the night, and then once a day over the next two days. We are now four days out from the last v* episode (96 hrs as of 6:30 tonight) and almost 24 hrs out from the last d* (which I would describe more as just loose, not really d*). The d* has not been a problem as we have kept him contained to one toilet in the house when he goes. The v* on the other hand pretty much covered entire areas of the household, first and second floor. Originally it was carpet and sheets, sheets I cleaned on hottest setting with bleach and dried on the sanitize setting. I held my steam mop over the general area of the carpet for one min. per area (smelled BAD) after my husband had initially cleaned the night before when he v*. Downstairs is all tile and wood floors, which has actually been worse because I'm not sure I got everywhere it could have possibly splattered, and my husband was walking around helping clean it. I've read in the news that it lives on hard viruses for up to two weeks, where I had previously thought it was only twelve hours! So I'm hoping the news is wrong (CDC says twelve hours). I was with him most of the times he v*, standing right next to him, and cleaned it up. I'm still struggling with following the "germ trail" in my house as I know it can live on upholstery and carpet for longer, and I only lightly sprayed my living room furniture around the bottom areas where the v* might have touched it. I used Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide wipes to clean most of the "touchable" surfaces, PureGreen 24 on the floor, then Lysol spray, then steam mop, then a clorox wipe attached to a swiffer. My floors are sticky!!!! How long till I can relax in my own house again? I wash my hands before eating all the time anyway, but right now I'm washing them after I touch anything in the house at all that hadn't JUST been previously wiped with clorox hydrogen peroxide wipe. I am, however, letting my son lay all over me :/.
Also before Christmas I woke in the early morning with stomach cramps which I initially thought were just pre-having to go cramps, but they quickly got worse. I had been a little nervous when I woke up so I took .25 xanax and as it progressively got worse panicked and took a 25mg phenergan suppository I have for migraine nausea. Those two things combined knocked me out for almost five hours, and when I woke up my stomach still hurt for the rest of the day, but far less than that morning, and by the next day it was gone. Was it possible I had a SV and just because of the timing of taking the meds slept through what would've been a five hour v* episode? There area few other times through the years where this has happened, but four years ago my son and I both got a particularly bad SV and taking the phenergan did help, but I still ended up v*ing once and feeling much worse the next 24 hrs than I had in the other few instances when I took it. My child's doctor said his virus was most likely norovirus, and that it had slowed his digestion enough that his stomach was upset after eating even three days later, and that that's why the d* also didn't come until later. Is it possible that I've cleaned up THAT much v* in my house over the last week and just not been sufficiently exposed? Or have I already had it and it hit me in a more mild way, as well as with my husband (who never, ever, gets SV, although grew up with an anxiety problem that made him v* often, thanks to this though he is NOT an emet, thank God).
So . . . Have I had it already? Is my house now safe again? Was it not norovirus and we are going to get THAT next week? Can the phenergan help that much? Ugh, hate this.
