    Default Panic attack question

For those of you who suffer from panic attacks, do any of you ever feel the need to sit or lay on the ground? I know this sounds awkward but every time I have a panic attack I feel like I'm either going to collapse or like the room is moving around me and that I need to be close to the ground so I know nothing is moving. I know, kinda odd. Just wanted to see if anyone else is like this.

When i have panic attacks which are few and far between, i act the opposite, i crave fresh air, i have to be outside and preferably walking around, even if its just pacing up and down in the garden but i guess panic attacks are one of those things - everyone handles them differently, better to do what suits you and what helps you get over them easier

I have to be sitting up, laying down usually makes me panic more!

I have to be up, outside, and preferably walking, too. I did have one attack over the summer (while going through an anti depressant change), where I had to lay on the floor with a fan blowing on me. It makes sense, though, if dizziness is part of your panic attacks. My mom has panic attacks where dizziness is the main symptom-- she takes an Antivert and lays down until she can sleep it off.

Never feel the need to lay down, but I will stand on one foot and take a few deep breaths. For some reason that does help with the dizziness. It kind of forces me to 'ground' myself, if I don't fall over, then I'm not really dizzy, right? Just listen to your body - if it helps, go for it! I'm usually a BABY about the cold (seriously, I shiver when it's like 68 degrees inside), but when I'm panicking or nauseated the colder it is the better!

When I was really bad with panic attacks, when my fear first really started, I would freeze up and it would feel like I had no control of my limbs for I would always immediately sit, as if standing up made me more susceptible to it. It was embarrassing because I had done it in public so many times, plopping myself down right on the sidewalk among various people walking around.
Thankfully I don't feel the need to do it anymore.

I HAVE to lay down. But i also have a heart condition thats irritated by panic attacks that will make me pass out. Each person has different coping methods. Mine is to lay down and play a game!
