Well, I'm not pregnant. I actually finallly started my period. THis is my first one off of the pill in over 7 years. I feel horrid. Waht's worse is I didn't have IBS 7 years ago so all I had to deal with was the cramps. My period always triggers IBS attacks, and this time it is awful. I didn't sleep much at all last night, I have been n* since about 5pm yesterday. I debated about coming to work, but I thought it might be good to try and get my mind off of everything. Any advice? Miracle drugs? I took Midol and it helped with the cramps, but not the IBS/n*.

I am sorry that you are having a rough time with this. I wish I knew what to tell you to do. I know that when I had my period (I dont anymore because I had a hysterectomy last summer) that I always had bad cramps and an IBS flare up. I think I finally had to have my doctor prescribe me something for the pain of the cramps, and I just dealt with the IBS, that usually got better after a day or two.

I wish I had more words of wisdom, Im sure someone will come along with more words of wisdom than what I have to offer these days ................. about this anyway.

Just know you are in my thoughts and I hope you get to feeling better soon!!!!

I feel your pain. All too well today and yesterday. I was dehydrated so it made it sooo much worse....maybe you could drink some water like I did and that might help. Who knows...

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Hopefully it will be over by your vacation. Since I've been off birth control I am always so afraid that I will start while we are on vacation. I finally started mine, too, after being about 17 days late for it. It is finally over now and I'm so glad!

Hope you feel better--I know when I'm having cramps, the best thing I can do is exercise!

I'm afraid to go off the pill for that reason. I used to get so sick when I was a teenager before I went on the pill.... I'd get the bad guts, horrific cramps, feel like I was going to faint, super heavy bleeding. Finally my mom took me to the dr. and she put me on the pill, and I've been on it for about 12 years. I really don't think I could ever go off... this sort of period crap is hereditary for me.... my mom and her mom went through hell with it.

It's ok if you need to go home/stay home from it. There probably isn't a woman alive who hasn't been hindered by it at one time. I know what helped me back then was heat on my belly and massaging my abdomen. Exercise is a great idea, although it's really hard to even do that when you feel like you do. I used to get a prescription from my dr. for pain and she would give me Toradol. It really knocked it out, so don't be afraid to ask for something a little stronger than midol. I don't know if that would help with all the other symptoms though.

    Hope you feel better!

I feel a little better. I was able to eat a muffin a few hours ago. I'm still having some IBS problems, but the cramps really aren't bad. I haven't taken anymore of anything because right now I don't need it, but I am scared this will never end. I really hope it is over before we leave. I really wish I had waited one more month before getting off so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I think I need to get pregnant really fast and get it over with and go back on the pill!
