Paranoid, Please Help!

Hi all I have what are probably stupid questions to ask.


Firstly does mouthwash kill bad germs? The reason I was asking is because I dropped my toothbrush in the sink and it came to rest against the Metal plughole which needs cleaning and isn't very nice. But I poured a capfull of mouthwash and let my toothbrush soak for a minute or so before brushing my teeth. Will that have got rid of any germs?


Also, if I'd swallowed any mouthwash I'd know right? Cos it would burn my throat like how it burns your mouth if you don't spit it out quickly enough? I'm always paranoid I've swallowed it and not realised.


The reason I'm asking all thses questions is I'm about to go out for a meal at a pretty posh restaurant with my bf and his family and I don't wanna get sick while I'm there (Or at any point to be honest!) Will I be ok?

Sure - mouthwash is intended to kill bacteria, and with the amount of alcohol in it,germs don't really stand a chance. The human mouth is without a doubt the filthiest place there is, so mouthwash is potent for a reason. As for swallowing some, even if you did you wouldn't get sick I don't believe. I've swallowed toothpaste and mouthwash before. Nothing ever happened.

I agree, my grandparents used to ALWAYS swallow their rinse swig of mouth wash and never got sick from it. You'll be fine! Enjoy your meal!
