Default baby I take care of vomited!!!

I babysit my friends baby every weekday. He is 9 months old. I watched him Monday, that night he started throwing up at his house and had a low grade fever. His mother knows about my phobia so she was nice enough to keep him home for two days even though he wasnt vomiting anymore. Today I had him and he was acting fine, happy, and smiling but when I tried to give him lunch he gagged. I thought maybe he just didn't like the carrots so I gave him some banana which he ate a little of but then he started to gag. I put him in his playpen and walked away and he started crying so I came right back only to see that he had thrown up on his clothes and play pen. what could it be? he has not had diarrhea and he did not have a temp. He was even acting fine afterwards. To top it off today is my 5 year anniversary and we have dinner reservations. Im scared of course but do not want to disappoint my husband. Do you guys think its something contagious? By the way no one else in his family has gotten sick.

Babies just v sometimes. It's seldom illness or serious. I think you're fine to go out tonight. I'm sure he's not got sv.

Sometimes even teething can cause babies to vomit...or ear infections. Go have a wonderful anniversary with ur hubby!

Honestly, my son has v* several times and he has yet to have a sv. I never know what causes it...it comes out of the blue. On Christmas, he ate like a champ and then I took him out of his high chair and 5 minutes later, he gagged and v* all over the couch. I was in tears. But he was completely fine. No other symptoms and never did it again. Who knows why they do that sometimes.

I think you are going to be just fine. And yes, the pediatrician told me that often ear infections can cause them to v*. And teething b/c of excess saliva.

A lot of babies have reflux, maybe it was that.

thanks guys. I did go out with my hubby and had a wonderful time. We just got back and although I did worry about it a few times tonight overall I think I did really well. I do hear that babies vomit for no reason but I guess I'm not used to it since luckily all three of my kids have had a pretty good non vomiting babyhood! I lucked out I guess except for the occasional stomach virus passing through. Thank for the replies. Wish me luck for tomorrow!

I'm glad you had fun with your hubby. Good job on getting out and having a good time even if you were nervous.
