Thread: Kind of Worried

Right now it's 12:30 in Calgary and I'm sitting in bed, feeling a bit anxious.

Today I went to the Calgary Stampede (a huge fair/carnival/rodeo in Calgary) and although I don't usually worry about food, I had a greek wrap along with some other things. I was kind of stressed out because they put tzaziki on my pita, which is this creamy sauce. I love tzaziki, but I was just concerned because it was hot out and I thought it might have been at risk of going bad. I'm hoping I'm in the clear because there were lots of people in line and so they were really busy and therefore making lots of new food. I just feel anxious right now and so I wanted to see what you all think- am I safe? I don't have diarrhea or anything and haven't felt sick today.

Also, one of my good friends who I work with told me her sister was sick all night from what might have been the flu. I touched my friend of course, while we were working together, but not a lot or anything. And washed my hands, which I rarely do. This was at 5, and I talked to my friend at 10 or so and she still felt fine. Any risk of me catching that one? Oh, and I also only worked with her for 20 minutes or so.

Sorry for all the descriptions, I just would love to hear that I'm worrying about nothing- I don't know much about food poisoning or flu-catching, and I'm sure some of you can hopefully help me out!

Well, not having diarrhea is an extremely good sign. My father had severe food-poisoning a few weeks ago from eating sour cream at a Mexican food joint that had been sitting in the heat. He started feeling ill an hour later after consuming it. Nausea, diarrhea, fatigue. Eventually got sick. But if you feel fine why fret? And if that place was crowded with costumer's, why would they want to threaten their obviously prosperous business with bouts of spoiled food? I wouldn't worry too much about it.

As for your friend, as long as you kept your hands washed and didn't touch your face you should be in the green zone. Besides, you weren't associating with the sick person herself. That's a plus.

    Hope this helped some!

i once got worried about catching a sickness bug off a friend who'd been in contact with some one else who had one. but there's no need to worry, there's very little chance of them being contagious so soon after. and if that did happen we'd all be in s**t cuz we'd all be ill all the time! so don't worry about it. xxx
