Thread: College

    Default College

My freshman year of college, I went about an hour away from home. This made me very anxious since i am afraid to get sick away from home. I stopped eating and lost about 30 pounds. Right now I have been going to college in my home town and living with my parents. But i feel like I am missing out on the college experience and really want to go back to campus next year with my friends and over come my fear! Good idea? Bad idea? thoughts? Im just thinking I need to get out and learn how to be away from home. And I will only be an hour away!

It would be hard but GOOD idea because you are pushing yourself to do what you know you can do. You will be anxious at first and maybe at times but you will be ok. Just prepare yourself for the change and try to stay eating because if not your immune system won't be as strong and you might catch colds and tuff easier . I have struggled a lot with eating because of this phobia but I really hate losing weight so I try to remind myself that food helps my body protect me and nourishes me. You can do it! Don't let this fear prevent you from doing what you want. We often feed into it too much . You have done it before and you can do it again

I would definitely suggest going back. I'm currently a sophomore and my first year was hard (dorms!) but this year is amazing. I have an apartment on campus with one roommate, and I actually find myself never ever wanting to go home. I'm about an hour and a half away from home, so my parents come to visit about every six weeks.

Do you have the option of living in an apartment, or is it dorms only? I still get nervous about going out sometimes because I live on one of the largest campus' in the country, so the walk home can be quite a trek. Its still worth it!! Do you have any specific worries/questions?
