    Unhappy Boyfriend might have SV

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I found this forum because I'm having terrible anxiety.

Last night, I was staying at my boyfriend's apartment (our apartments are only about 1 mile apart) and at 5AM, he got up and v*d for about 10 minutes. I couldn't handle being there, so I got up and drove home only to lay in my bed shaking for 3 hours. I texted him saying how sorry I was but that I had to leave, and I hoped he felt better. He was understanding.

Around 2, he texted me and I asked if he was still v*ing .. he said no, but he had been from 5AM - 10:30AM every 45 minutes or so.

I don't know if this is SV or FP but I'm really afraid! Has anyone gone through anything similar? Any advice? What do I do if I get the SV?

Considering you got out of there as soon as the v* started, you weren't exposed as he was in the bathroom.

Its really hard to think this in the heat of it all, but I honestly think you will be fine. Maybe tell him to clean his bathroom, light switches and door knobs with a bleach solution. Or you could offer to do it for him when he feels better knowing that you will be thorough (might give you peace of mind).

If by some wild chance you do get it, chances are you get diarrhoea only. However if you have any anti-emetics on hand and you start to feel odd take some and it may help. However its important to start taking them before you feel too unwell, otherwise your stomach will stop digesting and it will be pointless (not saying this to scare, its a fact). If you do happen to catch it and vomit please know that we are here for immediate support in the chatroom and you will get through it, BUT I highly doubt you will have to worry about it since you were not exposed in my opinion.

On a sidenote, it was good he understood you leaving abruptly. I mean if I were him, I wouldn't want someone catching what I had either.

As long as you didn't use the bathroom after he was sick (which it sounds like you didn't), you should be relatively safe. I would stay away until he has stopped v* for 48 hours and then ask him to clean his bathroom well with bleach (or do it yourself if you're like me). Keep washing your hands and try to distract yourself so you don't psych yourself into thinking you are sick!

I don't think you'll get it but a lot of people get SV and don't v*, just have d*. Like you said, it could also have been FP in which case you wouldn't be at risk

    Hang in there!

Thank you for being so supportive!

I did kiss him earlier in the night, but from what I've read, SV is not contagious via saliva. I'm really hoping that this is true!

As of this afternoon, none of his roommates were sick so that's comforting to me too.

Why do you say I'd probably only get diarrhea? Is that common when people with this phobia get the SV?

    Thanks again!

Thanks so much! I'm really hoping it's FP, because that will be over more quickly for him and non-contagious for me!
