Yes. I then spend the next week really down and unable to stop thinking about it. I hope you're coping okay. X
It makes me so nervous!!! I always try to tell myself that it is okay because I havent heard of anyone getting it recently. Maybe the news people are just wrong!
It seems like it went away then it came back. I think its this weird weather we are having. atleast thats what I think it is here in Kansas. Usually its much warmer this time of year and we just got a foot and ha half of snow in a matter of two weeks and now this weekend its supposed to be in the 60's. I am staying home unless I absolutely HAVE to leave.
"Outbreak" is a relative term. They said there was an "outbreak" here at a YMCA daycare. 2 students got it and 1 teacher. That was it....and they called it an outbreak.
I know our area has been hit hard the last 3 weeks. So, it is probably just about over.
Where gloves, Where gloves! Its foolproof![]()
I just wanted to add...our school absence list is shorter today than I've seen it since October! I think we're rounding the corner...the season is almost over!
Yes. I am freaking out and am so nervous I'm making myself sick. Grrrr.
I saw something just like this in January on my BBC News app. It scared the s*** out of me! It said that there was a record high of the "winter v*ing bug" with over 1.1 million cases (out of the 63 million people in the UK).
Outbreaks hit randomly and at random places. Outbreak is also a relative term. Outbreak could mean a few people or few hundred people. My school (UNC Chapel Hill) is just getting over an outbreak of norovirus (stool samples were taken, positive for noro). From Feb 27th-Mar 1st there were 85 people sick (out of 25k-30k students and faculty) that sought treatment for nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. By Mar 2nd, only 5 people had sought treatment. Outbreaks happen fast, but also dwindle fast. Just keep your hygiene up, as usual. Keep your hands out of your face and mouth. Wash your hands and do your normal routines when you get home. That's literally the BEST thing you can do. I know it is scary, but sometimes an outbreak is not as bad as people make it out to be. Oftentimes, people exaggerate not only the scope of the outbreak, but also the severity of the symptoms.
I actually handled my school's outbreak well. It was terrifying this week, but I made it through (today was my last day--Spring Break YAY!) and /knock on wood, I haven't caught anything yet. I also do not live on campus, nor eat on campus. Just be cautious and optimistic. Nerves and anxiety are the worst. Good luck.
